Are Charles Tyrwhitt shirts ever sold at their "was" price?

Not for very long I'm sure. Tyrwhitt's pricing scheme (the products are rarely if ever not on sale) is probably illegal in the US, but, of course, CT is not an American company. Jos. A. Bank actually got in trouble for a similar pricing system in the 90s I believe it was.

From memory in the UK they have to be at the 'full price' for continuous 28 days in one of their shops.

And for that period they generally run some kind of 'buy two for x pounds' deal that brings the price down to something like the later 'sale' price. I can't believe they've ever sold more than a handful at the supposed full price.

I'm sure they won't object if you offer to pay the 'regular' price ...

Just as a heads up - Charles Tyrwhitt shirts with double cuffs/ french cuffs gauge their sleeve length as the length of the sleeve with the cuff unfolded. I recently found what seemed to be a rare unicorn - a Charles Tyrwhitt Sea Island 15.5x37 shirt on eBay for $20. Of course, it fits me the way it would fit an orangutan.

I think your problem is with the ebay seller, not Charles Tyrwhitt. I have several double cuff shirts that I bought from the Jermyn St shop, and the sleeves are a perfect 34inch when folded.

Nah - the label actually says 15.5" x 37". It would have been nice if the eBay seller had actually measured and given fair warning but I guess it was not to be. I gave it to my girlfriend whose arms fit the thing and can have the torso cut down. It is a gorgeous shirt with beautiful fabric and will be probably the highest-quality garment she owns.

Agreed, I own ~15 Tywhitt shirts, every single one fits true to size

When you buy them from tyrwhitt you can option to have the sleeve shortened for a price, however they don't change the labels. I wouldn't judge the sleeve size off of an ebay purchase.

I live/work a couple blocks from CT in manhattan. I've never ever seen a shirt at full price there.

I think they're going to eat BB's lunch if the open up a few more locations.

If only their slim fits were actually slim in any way.

^^^ +1, their slim fits still need tapering for me. Actually the Brooks extra slims are better IMO. Also, somehow I find the English style has a little too much "flair", like the patterns, colors, etc and makes it hard for me to pull off in the workplace. I don't have the grey hair for it.
But yes, they seem ridiculously cheap in general and even if they're the low end of Jeremyn, at $25-50 that's even less then H&M and I know the qualities better so it's hard to say no.

As long as we're on the topic, my one peeve with them is almost all of their shirts are FC, and the Barrel ones all seem to be button down. I suppose that's more traditional but at my age (mid 20's in North America) FC's are seen as too "flashy"

The FC issue might be the case during their blowout sales, but normally they have everything available in FC and barrel cuffs. Their spread collars only come in FC.

They do have a lot of flashy stuff, but generally have whites & blues too. I like a lot of it, but can't deal with the waist poofyness. So MTM it is...

Good to know about Barrel Cuff's. I remembered them having more but when I looked now there's barely anything. Thanks, I'll keep an eye out in future.
