Is the tie a fake? If the seller is from Hong Kong, probably. My first experience buying an Hermes tie on ebay was from a seller called "goldenchicks1278". After paying for the tie, I got a notice the next day from ebay saying that the seller had been banned due to copyright infringements and that I didn't have to go through with the deal. Too late. The tie arrived a few days later, and even to my untutored eye it looked like a fake. What really burns me though "” along with ebay allowing sellers to register with hotmail addresses "” is that a few days later another Hermes tie seller appeared on ebay, registered in Hong Kong under the name "goldenchicks2525".
I should have known better, since I live in Hong Kong and see fake designer wear, handbags and watches all over the place. Not a lot of damage done, as I didn't pay much for the tie. But from now on, I'll be buying my ties online from Carlo Franco and www.tiedeals.com
