Whats the ruling on these Chambray Jeans for summer time wear?

http://www.contextclothing.com/item.php?id=733#

They seem pretty sick but are they worth the 299 price tag?

thread looks pretty orange, but that weight looks great for DC summers....

Ya I go to School in DC so heavyweight denim is out of the question for the muggy days of summer. Need something light for living in an old swamp. How the quality of these...is the lightweight chambray going to last?

I love the look, don't know if I'll cop cuz I think that price is insane for something I wouldn't wear every single day.

remember context has coupons for around 20-30% off all the time.

I don't think Jean Shop is ever worth the full retail price (at least the jeans), but these surely look interesting.

It's not, but they're great jeans. These would be a great pickup if you could get them cheap(ish) and need a summer jawn.

naked & famous silk denim suits me fine for dc summers

or you can grow a pair, suck it up and wear some 21 oz

The EG 8 oz that farinelli has looks pretty cool for the summer.

I've never been able to figure out this argument. JS uses very good Japanese selvage, riri zippers which aren't cheap, selvage at the fly, an honest-to-God leather patch that's stitched and hand-stamped, and is made in NYC. They do all this and yet for some reason people have no trouble dropping $155 on a pair of jeans with none of those features from Tunisia and call it a "bargain." Sure, the chambray jeans aren't cheap but look at what you're getting. NO ONE has that fabric and even if someone else did they wouldn't throw in all those bells and whistles that we love.

I agree a lot. I've been wanting someone to make raw chambray jeans for a while now. Maybe part of this is the name Jean Shop, it doesn't conjure "Expensive Japan Stuff" very well. I'm not sure if the orange stiching is my style but aesthetically it looks great, though I still couldnt justify dropping that much on jeans even if they're worth it but that's just my finances, if I were richer and these were more of a less skinny and straight cut I'd definitely do it. One quesiton though, if they're chambray, why does the back of the fabric look different than the front? Isn't chambray just a simple 1 to 1 weave?
