For me, when i hear my voice played back on a recorder or hear an echo on a cell phone call, i cringe at the sound of it. I dont like it, I am so used to how i sound to myself resonating through my skull bone, but the actual voice im either not used to it, and just has an ugly tone.

Same as when i see myself played back on video, i notice things that others may not notice, since you are up there on video, you're more self-conscious to every move or sway you make, and i exclaim, "why do i move or gesture like that??"

Anyone else dislike how they sound or look on video? how do you describe it.

I cannot listen to my voice played back to me without wanting to leave the room. I have a dvd of a speech contest from years ago that has never been played, and not sure I'll ever pop it in the player.

i know exactly how you feel about that. i have a something recorded for me a long time ago on video tape (recital) and i never want to watch it. i heard alot of actors never see a screening of their movies they act in because of this same reason. they cannot stand to see themselves cry, laugh, act in general, etc.

I have had girls say I have a nice phone voice.. and the mere sound of my authoritative yet compassionate voice on phone during my telemarketing days made the females swoon . Okay that is a lie.

But in the light of certain recent discoverys that my dance videos are ****, I will not care to even ask myself if my phone voice is good sounding or not. If I think its sexy, it will turn out to be complete ****. Thats what Im gathering.

I used to hate hearing my own voice, but then I worked at a radio station for a while and so when doing pre-recorded material would sometimes be in a store or riding in the car with someone and hear myself come on the air. I cringed for a while, but later got used to it.

I never have gotten used to seeing myself on video, though. I still cringe if it's a holiday or something and some relative pulls out the video cam.

Actually, I knew someone who I thought had a really good voice, and she too cannot listen to herself without wanting to leave the room. I like her voice, she thinks she brays (which is slightly true, but that's part of her charm).
