The video showing the animals being murdered for their fur is barbaric. No, I am not a "PETA person" and eat meat and wear leather.

Thanks for the heads up about the content of the video, but I decided to watch it anyway. It's quite saddening.

Pretty barbaric.

They don't seem to care much about giving the animals a clean and painless death. If you're going to kill an animal to eat it or take its hide/fur, you should have the decency to kill it swiftly and without unnecessary pain and suffering.

The feared eyes of the poor tortured animal, with his legs cut, without his fur and lying on other bloody half dead animals like him
= horrible and spooky .

I would have killed these guys if i had seen them doing this.

This is unbelievable .

I completely agree with Kai.

The video was made by the swiss animal protection society (PSA) in China a few months ago. These images shocked many people here.

The furs were intended to decorate the hoods of cheap jackets.

So let me understand this... The SPA went into a fur factory and casually shot this while these animals were being barbarically handled, mangled and killed and the people involved in the manhandling knew they were being videoed and didnt even try to sugarcoat it?

Forgive my skepticism but if so then these people should be killed as ernest says but for the same reaosn. Simply because we wouldnt want these half wit genes to be passed on now would we?

I've seen a similar video, narrated by Alec Baldwin, with the same sorts of things being done to chickens, pigs, cows, etc. It definitely made me think more about where my food comes from. I'm sure not all the sources are so barbaric, but I've seen some pretty nasty stuff. I try to buy free-range food as often as possible, and I buy the eggs from chickens that get to walk around.. "naturally nested" or something. But I'm lazy and I eat out a lot, so I guess I'm still part of the problem.

For example, there was a different video that surfaced maybe a year ago that showed people throwing chickens against a wall as hard as they could. The chickens were bound for KFC; this whole thing broke on the regular news. I don't eat there anymore, partly because of that, and partly because their chicken is gross.

Things like this are always shocking and are part of the reason i don't eat meat (though not all of it as some of you may remember earlier post about leather and vegetarians) or wear (besides that fact that i find fur incredibly ugly and don't want to look like i'm out of the 80's). Anyhow as horrific as this video is (i only watch the first 30sec and had to turn it off after the started choping off limbs) it does have to be taken with a grain of salt. This are somewhat isolated events and yes there are furs that come from places like this and there are some that dont', it one of those things that you never know what your getting. As with the Alec Baldwin video (http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=mym2002) these are somewhat isolated events, although not all of them, the cutting off of beaks is common practice and i can't remember if it shoes them shooting the cows before hanging them by their feet and having their throats ****, but some of the practices such as when the guys are beating the crap out of the cow or pig are not very common. I have a friend who lived and worked on a farm (a large farm probibly one of the biggest in my county) and they did not treat there animals the way, they thankfully did not have chickens but did have cows who had to be shot in the head with a lead ball before having their throat **** like i mentioned earlier. (hope that made sense and were from the right video can't stomach it again). As for being part of the problem what are you gonna do? I've read several papers that pretty much prove that if we all were vegetarians or eat free range animals, we would starve because there is not enough land for all of us. As fpr fur though we don't need it. Side note, i don't know much about fur but highend fur don't you htink they would not want to damage the fur as much and would be more human, or do they always use a blunt instrument? my .02

I am not sure it is the quickest and cheapest way to kill chickens.

It's all right, all the motorcycle ninja assassinations on this side of the Miss have to pass through LA Guy. As long as he gets to be an uber-powerful Moderator, I am safe. To the issue at hand, I gotta say that from what I know having your throat **** is probably one of the nicest ways you could die. I think PETA makes way too much out of that. I mean, we can't eat them alive, so we gotta kill them somehow. I just wish there was more regulation of this industry... I think someone could make a really good business (especially around here, near a college) with a restaurant that made a point of using only free-range animals. Of course the problem is most of those people go overboard and turn vegan or vegetarian, rather than doing something that would actually help the situation (i.e. my idea). People are going to eat meat. It's good. Your body is specialized to use it. Denying it to yourself is fine if you want, but trying to deny human nature and have no part in the ethical killing of animals means that the unethical killing goes on with no competition. One of the points made was that eating dairy products supports the veal industry, which is a pretty disgusting industry for the most part. Unfortunately, I love veal, so I must reconcile that with myself when I eat it. I guess I'm just a horrible person.
