I'm not a fan of his designs, but I do see him as having been a trendsetter.

I recognize the controversy but don't quite understand the intensity of emotions it produces. And ... I like my 6 series ... even its butt

Got to love post where people wish death to someone for something so small and unimportant.

You don't like his designs then don't buy a BMW. The problem is people complain about his designs and still buy them.

I haven't personally liked any BMW since the E30. Well the z3 M Roadster was kinda cool and I do take the company Z4 from time to time since my girlfriend likes to drive it. But that's it really.

It's about time. Let the era of the ugly Bimmers be gone.

Hate to break it to you folks, but his successor is as responsible for the current look of BMWs as Bangle:

"Take the 6-Series, it's an almost literal translation of Van Hooydonk's Z9 Gran Turismo concept car, down to the exaggerated boot lid, offset by soft, tear-drop alloys. Just how much wilder can BMW get? "Much," he says. "Anything is possible. We have not reached the end. Our imagination knows no boundaries and our creativity has no fear."

He's not going to build the 4x4 X-coupe concept car, is he? Van Hooydonk laughs so hard it looks like his fringe is about to fly off. "No. But there's plenty we can do in the future. We are always looking ahead, designing three years ahead of ourselves, shaping tomorrow.""

I saw that on my RSS mini-feed today and let out a loud "woohoo!" in my quiet office. I didn't try to explain since very few people there would understand.

Someone please force him to drive an E90 for the rest of his life so he always has to be seen in one of those atrocious things. Although the E92 coupe has grown on me, I really haven't enjoyed the looks of any BMWs since the E46. It was a nice progression from the E36... then the E90 came out of left field.

I think the 6 looks best of all the Bangle designs.
