Other people's palate - A Disappointment Thread - Page 4

My wife's sister has told us she doesn't appreciate a fine white...she wants something fruity and straightforward that she can glug down so I always have a decent $10-15 white for her. It was xmas, so my wife and I picked a special wine, our last bottle of dehlinger reserve pinot noir, a hard to come by, geeky, mailing list wine that matured in our cellar for 7 years. I took the kids out on the front lawn to play soccer. After about 30 minutes my sister-in-law came out with big plastic cups and ice water for everyone. We took a break, everyone had a cool drink, my sister-in-law chugged about half her glass and said "You know I usually just like white wine but this pinot noir, with ice, is pretty good. Do you have another bottle?"
