Federer/Nadal = Best Rivalry in Sports? - Page 5

Those moments were exciting. However, I have seen better quality matches. The Fed of today is nowhere near the fed of 2004-2007. His footwork is half a step slow and his forehand isn't anything like it used to be. I still stand by my statment that I have seen better matches, not that this one wasn't entertaining. Also, as much as I would like to think that this is the greatest rivarly, Sampras/Agassi, McEnore/Conners and heck, I even enjoyed watching Rafter/Agassi better.

I can agree with this. Federer's serve was way off, and his forehand is nowhere near what it used to be. Even is backhand is worse. I feel like he is trying to counterpunch a counterpuncher when playing Nadal. That's why lately the matches between the two have been so error filled (41 for Nadal, 64 for Federer), which doesn't make for great tennis, so much as great drama.

It shall resume again!!!!

BTW: Roger beat Rafa on clay a few days ago...that could be what gives Rog some confidence again.

Having Djoker in his half of the draw won't help Federer play Nadal in the finals.

How Nadal humbled Federer from last week's SI.

I honestly think that Federer needs to get a coach quick. Not just for short whiles (as he did last year, I believe, for the French Open), but a permanent one. I agree that he is nowhere near what he was like in the 2004-2007 seasons.

Didn't see that there.

Good article, but I have a feeling many already knew about this whole topic a while ago.

It is just so painful to watch lately. Roger is simply the greatest player of all time. But he doesn't seem to have any heart. He has the talent to find a gear above ever Rafa, but he only finds it when he isn't under pressure, and the last couple of years I haven't seen much of it at all. When he's beaten down, he doesn't get up and fight back, he fades away. If he'd only work as hard on restoring his pre-mono form as Rafa reportedly does every day, he would be #1 again, but he just doesn't give off an air of determination at all, as Rafa does. Still, he can win those grass and hardcourt matches without too much trouble if he just keeps his first serve in (the reason he lost the Aussie) and attacks Nadal's 2nd serve aggressively.
