Office suit

Thread Starter
I just got a job as an accountant and ive currently got a dark charcoal suit with faint grey pinstripes and recently got a black suit with grey pinstripes. Many say that black suits should not be worn in the office but is a black suit with pinstripes ok? The pinstripes are not excessively bold but they are noticeable. The suit looks similar to this one http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...lasekou/c2.jpg

Thanks

The suit looks fine.

I don't know why people think black suits aren't suitable for the office; maybe it's an American thing?

Due to pinstripes being such a business staple, I think they tend not to complement suits outside the business environment. Likewise solid black with formalwear. Together, though, they have a striking effect. I have a bolt of black with rust double-pinstripe that is intended for a DB power suit. The black is a bluer shade, to avoid an unflattering green-red combination.

I don't think black is quite so bad if it has pinstripes so its not only black, but navy would still have been a much better choice.

The suit looks nice IMO.

I manage a acconting firm and i can tell you that i would have no problem if I saw one of my employees in a black suit as long as it had stripes or some other kind of pattern to it. I would deffinatley not wear a plain black suit ever.

There IS a huge difference between plain black and black/pinstripes, the latter should be perfectly fine.

+1 - shouldn't be any problem with that suit.

Looks fine to me. Especially when you're wearing it with with a pastel coloured shirt and a nice tie.
