What are my scent options?

For some reason I keep getting headaches from using colognes regardless of brand. What's a good alternative to colognes? Was thinking of trying body sprays, body washes or anything else you guys suggest. Can anyone recommend something that smells good and lasts?

maybe try a lighter cologne like gendarme; body sprays are for girls and body washes are soap (i.e. you should already be using this or bar soap when you shower)

I'll look into that brand.

Any other suggestions out there?

Pay attention to which notes are in the scents that give you headaches, especially the base notes that can be hard to detect when sampling at a fragrance counter. Some websites like Base Notes and Sephora helpfully list the notes. Some salespeople are knowledgeable about the notes in their offerings, unfortunately others will only want you to try whatever is newest or most popular. Powder, amber, and especially vanilla, even in tiny amounts, can give me headaches. Angel for Men could probably put me in the hospital.

It really narrows down the options for me. So many scents start out interesting, but after an hour on my skin the vanilla overpowers the other notes. I have several scents, but my mainstay is Eau de l'Occitan from L'Occitane-en-Provence. Its main notes are lavender and burnt wood.
