What is the allure of cloth sold by H. Lesser? Â Is it Lesser's editorial sensibility? Â That Lesser filters out much of the weak product and presents a well-edited collection of cloth from various mills that suits a particular taste? Â Or does Lesser provide some other service I cannot discern in the website?
Lesser is a merchant, a distributor of cloth.  As such, Lesser has access to a good deal of the cloth other merchants do, in a business that is quite incestuous, however Lesser does enjoy added clout in having access to the "first shearings" of cloth (similar to the "first pressing" of olive oil earmarked for special restaurants in Italy), and is one of a small handful of merchants in the world (one of just a few in the UK), distributing Carlo Barbera cloth, one of the most prestigious mills in the world, and Lumb's Golden Bale, equally exquisite cloth.  Among the myriad of merchants, Lesser offers a very high level of consistency of quality of cloth, especially in the 2x2 weave cloth, which is superior.  They're also the rare family-run enterprise at a time when conglomerization has taken hold of the textile mills. Grayson
