Everyone's favorite mosque at Ground Zero that isn't really a mosque and isn't really at Ground Zero, which has now been designed, but not by an architect, who the developers may or may not be trying to hire for the mosque-like building they are releasing renderings of, which has not been financed, by people that may or may not be part of shady political circles.

Looks like a giant sponge .
BTW, the mosque scam is really a RE extortion scam and nothing more.

teh GF was talking about the renderings she saw today. Comments were along the lines of "how are they planning on doing this? You can't have the glass end like that. An architecture firm would never do this, I am not sure what their intentions are."

2, 3 and 4 are the best.

I was skeptical as well. All I could think of was concrete lattice structure with bonded glass on both sides of the concrete, which is then veneered with steel panels that are welded together for a seamless finish on the outside, and then plywood and plaster render on the inside. But that is neither easy or cheap and it's only been done a couple times.

In an entirely different direction...the 65 Sedan picnic boat from Palm Beach Motor Yachts makes for a fantastic cruiser...gorgeous boat and fantastically built. http://pbmy.com.au/

this is so weird it's cool
Cloud1.jpg
Presented by Transsolar and Tetsuo Kondo Architects at the recent Venice Biennial of Architecture, indoor clouds were formed by stacking a warm humid layer (25C, 100% RH) between a lower cool dry layer (18C, 40% RH) and a higher hot dry layer (37C, 60% RH). Although technologically different, it invokes images of Diller and Scofidio’s 2002 Blur building and Cai Guo-Qiang’s pyrotechnics.
