definately thinking twice before spending. Trying to cut down on crap I buy, like toiletries when they are half empty.

I've cut back a lot on the little things and increased spending on the bigger items. Well, now that the Inauguration is over anyway.

+1

I just recently discovered the joy of gilt groupe, so that is fun. I think right now is a fantastic time for a sartorial newbie (such as myself) to jump in the game.

While I'm tempted to go on a spending spree because of the huge discounts, I usually hold myself back because I'm wondering I'm buying just cause it's so cheap (like alot of people on this forum did with J.Crew, then they sell their items for an even lower prices cause it wasn't want), or if I want to buy because I genuinely like the item.

...Perhaps. But I'd rather have my $17 bucks a month than waiting for 3 days to get my movies after they have "shipped." Maybe my postal worker is watching them first. :p

really? I have always been blown away by how fast netflix is. I first signed up back in 2001 when it used to take 2 days, but now its down to one. I had blockbuster for awhile and they took two days, but when I went back to netflix, its always super quick. We have a RDC about 50 miles from here which helps, but I would be shocked if there wasnt one in NYC somewhere.

like smashing several small, used up bars of soap to make one 'big' bar of soap.

or squeeze the dickens out of a tube of toothpaste to get every last molecule of paste out of it.

+5. And I'm not too pressed about Netflix b/c I don't own a DVD player. I turned my heat off also. But I've been spending an increasing amount on custom tailoring.

I'll save some money on Valentines day by not doing anything. Hopefully I'll get dumped for it too and then I'll save even more.

Apart from a strategic purchase or two, I have completely stopped buying clothes. And it's killing me to see all of the great deals out there!!!
