Do you really need a life partner/permanent relationship?

With all this recent talk of marriage, number of sex partners, and lifestyles in general, a natural question arises:

Do you believe that you have to have a partner (spouse, same sex partner, etc) in life? Or are you ok on your own assuming you have balance in all other parts of your life - friends, family, work, health, money, etc?

Pole *******.

This forum is beginning to persuade me that I should not get married.

Who else is going to make you breakfast and lick your balls?

I used to say "Hell No!" but after spending almost a year with my girl I don't know if I would be as happy if I wasn't with her. I do miss messing around with different girls and not being tied down though.

Interesting. I assume being on your own still involves getting some?

There is no selection for my answer. I am exceedingly happy being with who I am with. She is the first that has kept me happy, monogamous, and find just a general pleasure to be around. Before her, I'd not vote on the permanent relationship, as I had a problem with fidelity and getting bored. And if something were to happen to her, I don't think I'd actively go looking for another relationship.

So my best answer is, "It depends."

Prior to meeting my wife I was perfectly content to be on my own for the rest of my life, if that's what life threw my way. She tells me that she felt the same.

Now, of course, I wouldn't trade.

I think it's fine to be single. Many people can live happily that way.

I find people who are still single (and never been married) in their late thirties or older to be quite pathetic, TBH.

I can't imagine having casual relationships for the rest of my life. I get pretty sick of dating when I'm actively engaging in it. Having said that, i'm extremely picky about whom i'll eventually settle down with, and i'm not entirely sure what I want out of her yet, either. What i do know is that i need to find a woman that doesn't want babies anytime soon.
