I think 80s music rocks

Is something wrong with me??

Lately, I have found myself jamming out to a lot of 80s music. Like right now at work I have "Blame it on the Rain" playing on youtube. Other times if I'm out at night and the right 80s song comes on in a bar or my friends car I rock out. Is this ok?

Me and a friend also think it may be a awesome idea to have a bar with only 80s music somewhere. Maybe in Adams Morgan/georgetown (for DC folks), shit possibly even Arlington. Is it worrying that I would actually head there a few times for fun?

Thanks for the advice.

< Huge 80's fan.

I am slowly working on an 80s compilation that I consider to be the definitive 80s compilation. Since most of them suck, I am hoping to carefully pick only the creme de la creme for this. My target is a top 250 but if I hit that and still have a lot of room for songs I may do a top 500. I'll make a thread when the time comes.

Not sure if it's what you're after, but the Black Cat does Cryfest (the Smiths v. the Cure) every few weeks or something. A more pop-oriented '80s dance night shouldn't be that hard to find.

that's gotta already exist somewhere near you. 80s theme nites at bars have been around since.....the 90s

80s music is great, esp the cheesy new wave stuff. I never liked 80s hard rock during the 80s, but listening to some it now, it's actually pretty good rocknroll if you can get over how bad the bands looked with their teased hair and makeup

Most of the music in the 80s was pretty horrible (anything recorded in LA for certain), but there are some records made in that decade that hold up well. Try 'Looking From A Hilltop' by Section 25, 'Barmy' by the Fall and the Eno/Byrne album 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts'.

Obviously, I completely disagree, but I think that's sort of his point - he likes the disposable pop stuff. I do too, in addition to what I consider a lot of the best records ever made.

+1. Take away the hairnet, ugly hair, stupid costumes and all what was "heavy metal" then is still pretty good rock and roll now

News flash: 80s revival has been in full effect since around 2003. It's okay to listen to 80s music.

It's been proven that SF approves of 80s music. You are just a sheep!!!! (I like it too) http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ghlight=decade In fact, according to that chart, New Year's Eve of 1980 was the greatest musical moment of all time.

Incidentally this is right around the time GTA: Vice City was released.

Every bar on The Hill is like that. Journey and Bon Jovi are on those jukeboxes permanently.
