Very well said (or quoted?).

My grandfather always stressed the importance of gentlemanly behavior. I see no real conflict in aspiring to be a gentleman and respecting gender equality. The demise of the gentleman was one of the unfortunate and unnecessary) casualties of the (otherwise laudable) modern feminist movement.

We had to memorize it when we were pledges. I think it is a very good summation of the idea of being a gentleman, though.
