yep. 14.5" I was surprise too since well normally, I would choke. Somehow, this one works, don't know why. I have worn it extensively and it gave me no problems. My shoulder and sleeves fit perfectly and I have broad shoulder. When I wear underarmour coldgear underneath, I feel great in 40 degree temp.

I have had a Saint James, which is quite good. France have a long tradition of making good knitwear in virgin wool. If it says "Made in France" and "Virgin Wool" - or rather "Fabrique en France" and "Laine vierge", I'll last for decades and never pill.

But I prefer the SNS Herning ones. The model is called Naval. I have one and I have had others in the past. They are really solid, well made and they'll keep you warm.

The fit is quite slim, so if you are a little fat or tall, you should consider buying one size up.

Pretty perfect sweater.

I recommend the Royal Mer Breton jumper. Excellent quality and lower price than SNS Herning or Saint James. I bought mine from Jump the Gun.

I live nearby and tried them on. The size on the label is 4 - whatever this means. Normally I wear size 40 in jumpers. You should contact JtG via their website and ask about sizing.

I feel like these are everywhere this spring--not the heavy sweaters, the boat neck cotton ls tshirts.

FWIW, J Press has the armor lux version.

Would like to see some nonpromotional shots of them worn. They look comfortable but sometimes a little feminine.

The Guy Cotten version at Oi Polloi has a narrower neck, which seems preferable to me.

J.Crew is now selling a St. James nautical t-shirt: And here's their Mr. Freedom version:

I hate how it has the name on the sleeve.

This may be the only time I ever buy anything from jcrew.

LOL ya right.

The Mr. Freedom version is unsurprisingly ugly and overpriced.

Hello guys, Being from the home land of breton sweaters and t- shirts and owning quite a few different types from various labels, I thought I would join this threat. As nautical is so much in vogue at the moment, you can easily buy anywhere a stripy top to achieve the look but if you are after the real mcCoy then you need to turn to Brittany for that. We call it "La Mariniere" as famously worn by Picasso, Bardot and Coco Chanel. These are the high quality cotton striped shirt with a boat neckline, a heavy weight one not a basic thin tee-shirt. It is almost a "rough" knitted cotton which is extremely durable, never bobbles and keeps for years. You also have the "light weight" version which is a traditional quality cotton shirt. So when you buy one, make sure you check which type of Mariniere it is. When it comes to sweaters, we have two types: the authentic "chandail", a pure wool striped sweater with a shoulder buttoning and the "camioneur", a pure wool sailor zip-up collar sweater. Now, with these you will achieve different styles as both are cut differently. The Chandail is what we call a "tube" shape as such, it aims to hug your body and so it is critical that you go for a perfect fit or you will look out of shape. The Camioneur, on the contrary, is a comfortable fit and hids "imperfections", if any of course ..... These are high quality garments that again will test the length of time. Now in terms of labels: - for knitwear, the "creme de la creme" is Royal Mer, top quality with top finishing and all made in Brittany, followed closely by Saint-James, although not technically in Brittany but Normandy. - for tops and t-shirts: Saint-James, Armox-lux (although check the cotton type as I found that their recent "soft cotton" tops bobble after several washes), Le Minor & Guy Cotten. Not all of these labels continue producing in Brittany unfortunately. And yes, I also resell two of the mentioned labels in the UK .... and so if you need some advice as to check which fit would suits you best or anything else on this topic, feel free to contact me, I will be more than happy to help.
