has anyone used a Fast Food Self Order kiosk? - Page 2

Yeah I was going to mention WaWa. Oh and Sheetz blows, their food isn't very good nor is their coffee. Both stores have had screens for quite some time (WaWa since ~'01). For WaWa and Sheetz after you order both you and the people behind the deli counter get a slip. This gets rid of any waiting in lines (they have several stations). You pay for the slip at the counter before picking up your item from the deli counter. The person behind the counter prepares the item and places it on the counter. You take the item and place the slip in a bin.

yeah. this reminds me of the dishwasher machine. i never understood the usage behind it.
you have to wash all the dishes first before you put the dishes inside. makes no sense.

During the 90s they could never get my order right. More recently it seems like my order is correct as long as they can understand English (some days that is asking too much though). As long as this box understands English I should be in good shape.

I've used the system at Sheetz and it always worked pretty well. Punch in what you want, get reciept, take it up to counter and pay, then walk over to 'kitchen counter' and pick up food. The box pictured handles the money too though

That Arby's shut down because the video touch screen was removed?!

It's always nice and clean at the Wawa. Everybody, love your local Wawa.

you've never worked in foodservice have you?

Carls Junior utilized the automated systems in OKC, but they were always screwing up, so basically the employee had to help you place your order with them so they were essentially pointless. Although you are pressing the buttons so the excuse 'i am sorry i didn't hear you correctly... you meant mustard no onions, not mustard and onions' kind of thing.

Laguardia airport.. sandwich shop (Boar's head) has one. They still have slow-ass people working behind the counter though. If they could automate them they'd have something.

At the Wa up in Princeton, I remember that drunk kids would always order sandwiches on the kiosk and obviously not pick them up. So they would make about 10-15 sandwiches at a time, only 5 of which probably got claimed.

In non-English speaking countries that I was unfortunate enough to go to McDonald's in (Thailand, Taiwan in particular) they have the items in picture by the counter so you could just point it out and use your fingers to tell the crew person how many you're getting.

Probably works better than the McDonald's here.

Are the mcdonalds not that way everywhere?

Denny's was the first restaurant in the US to use pictures in its menu, and offer a picture only menu so that functional illiterates could just point to pancakes, or bacon, or... if that was what they wanted.
