French Blue shirts okay?

I have a french blue shirt from a few years ago, and was wondering if these are still okay to wear? It seems that paler blues are more popular now.

It's not that they're "more popular now," it's that they're classier, more timeless, and generally easier to match with other pieces.

I think they are a great addition to the wardrobe-- either worn open collared with a navy sportcoat and tan trousers or khakis, or with a classic solid tie and a suit. just bought one myself, and think it will look good with my new gray suit and navy grenadine tie.

I like French blue too, deployed properly. Then again, no one's accused me of being classy.

As long as you don't go for the dreadful black dockers and scuffed KC square shoes look, and the color suits your complexion, I don't see any reason not to wear french blue. The one The_Foxx posted is a nice color. The brighter more saturated ones I would approach with caution.

I couldn't agree more. French blue shirts with black pants remind me of 1999.

I tend to stick to blue or white for shirting cloths, as it works well with my complexion and eye color and thats really what you should work off anyway. French blue is a fantastic color, finding the right shade and time to wear it is another thing. With what shade lounge suit would one wear it with?

A nice French blue shirt, with French cuffs, an appropriate pair of c/links, coupled with a light grey suit... I think it could work. Especially if the fabric is quality, with a nice twill detail for example...

I personally dislike that color but seem to be in a minority here. Carry on

Too dark.

Historically, French blue shirts are not a "classic" look.

Tread warily...

I like to follow the guideline of light shirt, darker tie, even darker suit.
(Casual and summer clothes excepted.)

I personally associate French blue shirts with late 1990s style--as mentioned above, black trousers and black square-toed shoes...we may as well throw in a big black belt with a designer logo buckle to complete the ensemble. Oh, and don't forget the white necktie!

I like French Blue fine with dark grey or navy. It might be okay with dark brown as well. Hate it with gold-toned ties, which seems to be how a lot of people wear it.
