am spinning their new CD right now.....overall pretty good, still catchy and no large deviations from their "signature sound"....not sure if it hits me as immediately as their first records, but then their debut I didnt really like on first listen then after about 5 spins I realized it was my fave record of that year.

anyone else a fan of FF? and what do you think of "Tonight"?

No Girls, Live Alone, and Lucid Dreams all feel kind of like the first album. It seems like this album is a bit more psychedelic than the last two. Katherine Kiss Me is a favorite, totally uncharacteristic of FF but perfect and really a beautiful song. I still enjoy their self-titled album quite a bit and it gets a lot of play in my car.

not bad. def appeals to the teenage indie kid in me. They're a 2 man band? That's kinda weird, I get disconcerted by deviations from the standard 3-5 piece lineups for some reason. The blond guy in the hat looks like Brutus.

will probably get Cathie to check out their debut, this is something she'd probably buy then I can borrow it.

I was kinda making fun of them for sounding exactly like FF but it's not unlistenable. I would assume that they're more than a two-piece but that only two of them could show up to the Target at the Eagle Rock Plaza for the "shoot." And yeah, I totally thought that guy looked like Brutus, too. (send the album my way once Cathie buys it)

I really liked them when they first came out. But gave up on them when Kirsten Dunst said she was a big fan. Never bought their second album because of it. Might itunes it later one though. Thanks for the rec, I need new music.

GoSurf....I like the 2nd record better than the debut, it had a "punkier" sound, if you could ever apply that tag to Franz Ferdinand.

Their first album is great, I have only heard a few tracks off of their second and this newest album.

It seemed like all these bands that NME hyped sort of fell beside the wayside for a minute and are just now returning (franz ferdinand, the strokes...)

+1

Never liked the first album much, but the second one was a pleasant surprise and I still find myself going back to it from time to time. It's certainly one of the better british rock albums of the 00's.

I dig the new album (Tonight), a lot. They did a great job of moving towards a more dance oriented rock sound, bass driven, 4/4 disco beat, less guitar driven, good use of synths.. while still keeping their Franz Ferdinand sound, and not deviating into some cheese-ball disco rock. Favorite new release of the moment.
