Becks to stay in Serie A?

Rumors starting to swirl that Becks may opt out of his LA Galaxy contract. Seems like it would be a good move for all involved, including the Galaxy, unless someone can show me how he's been beneficial to MLS or the Galaxy specifically. I'd love to see him playing meaningful soccer in spite of what all the haters like to say.

+1 Milan could use the help. And he seems to have good chemistry with them (which in my opinion is something he always brings to the table).

he's not as very good soccer player anymore. Moreover, he's into fashion model.

Sort of already have a thread for this...

Anyway, Becks & Co. couldn't get the job done today so Roma's win pulls them w/in a point of the final CL spot....

Seattle is going to dominate MLS anyway. Beckham just would have seen his star fade faster.

He's certainly good for MLS from a ticket-selling and media stand-point. You can argue LA is a better team without him and possibly Donovan because they can spread the salary around a lot more, but a play-off team in LA without Beckham won't sell out the entire stadium all year like it did with Beckham.

Beckham's likely problem is that he came too early to LA. If he'd been in Europe and had a chance at England in 2010, then he'd have come to LA after the WC knowing for certain that top end Europe was over for him. He likely felt that way at Madrid, but, lo and behold, he found out he could still compete at that level.

I always thought that Beckham saw his future in that of McManamen and his ilk -- i.e., after Real, return to a mid-sized England team (Newcastle, Spurs, Man City) where his body would take a terrible pounding, and then he'd slide quickly down the player ranks in England -- which is why LA seemed like a new beginning for him. It turns out that playing in MLS is tough on his soul, and he really can do better than the Everton's of the world.

I was really hopeful that DB would get people here interested in soccer. Maybe if he'd have been the sensational player that he used to be, he would have. Looks like the only thing that can get Americans interested in soccer is a good ol headbutt.
