working out while sick - Page 2

I typically don't work out when I'm genuinely sick. The body is working plenty hard to combat the invaders (hence the symptoms), so it doesn't need extra strain. Don't stress over weight gain, sickness typically kills appetite and your body will be burning its reserves fighting the infection. And yes, other people at the gym don't appreciate Mr. Sick coughing all over the machines.

The biggest caution is to make sure you get back into your routine once the sickness is over. Long illnesses can ruin a fitness habit by disrupting the schedule; just be sure you're ready to get back to exercising just as soon as you're feeling better.

Compared to those guys, I'm a baby.

Yeah, well I'm "fighting" a sinus nuisance and I'm out the door to the gym. I'll report back if I'm sweating toxins out of my eyes.

I'm not sick often, but when I am, I skip the workouts. I'm not going to lose anything in a few days (or even a few weeks). I rest up and come back strong.
