Default Pittsburgh tailor

I have three suits I need to have altered and am looking for a tailor in Pittsburgh. The one that was recommended is about 90 and rarely takes customers. Any help would be appreciated.

Paolo Costa in The Union Trust Building was recommended to me. He, however, seems to be limiting his work to bespoke. He may be the guy you were refering to. He did recommend another tailor in the Oliver Building, but I can't find his card. If you happen to be in downtown, stop by Paolo's shop and ask him for the name of the tailor he recommends for alteration work. If I'm near there today I'll check with him myself. I have been told that Settimios, in Wexford, does good work but I haven't tried them yet.

Please let me know what you find out and welcome to Styleforum. You're the second Pittsburgher to show up this week. That brings us to three that I know of.

I would recommend Primo Tailor in Fox Chapel on Freeport Road across from Community Market. He does excellent work and is moderately expensive. He always appreciates the Isaia suits I bring him from STP and does a great job with them, handsewn buttonholes, etc.

There is also a tailor in the second floor of the William Penn hotel in an area with some other offices of law firms who does great work. I can not recall his name. He could be the 90 year old who is not taking new customers as well.

If you don't mind the drive to Butler, he makes great custom shirts and solid suits as well.

Rise from your grave, thread!

Thanks for the recommendation- I met them today and ordered a custom shirt and a pair of trousers. Frank and his son Larry both seemed very knowledgeable.

Has anyone ordered a suit from them? How are they?

I appreciate all the answers but I don't drive. I've talked to the guy in the union trust bldg and he only does custom. There is a shop on stanwick st that I will try with one item and see how it goes. Thanks for all the help and you should stop at Jos Orlando on a Thurs eve as he is often open late and has wine and snacks. This week Ali the fitter from Samuelson was here doing fittings and it was fun.

I'm not sure about downtown, but there is a decent one in Squirell Hill I know about. Let me know if it would be of use....

Here it is:
Dale Kelley
Kelley's Tailoring & Custom Design
Suite 329, The Omni William Penn
555 Grant St.
Pgh, PA 15219
412.201.2204

He was recommended by a reweaver I go to (who is outstanding and reasonably priced - if anyone needs a reweaver recommendation, please PM me). I haven't been to him (yet - I intend to soon), but a good friend had a HF suit altered, and was very pleased.

Does this tailor do alterations well? I need a tailor (closer than 1 hour away) for this purpose.

oooh... I work in 1 mellon....

I just took a ton of stuff to Marcello's on 51 in the south hills (Baldwin maybee?). really nice guy, not scared off by what I asked, but seems expensive (14 for a hem?) and needs a week for my suits and 2 weeks for my pants, but we shall see...

The point of business is not to fulfill your philosophical dreams of what a utopian society should look like but to meet people's needs and desires.

I have one in the works. Two fittings down and things are shaping up well.

I actually have to make a trip out there some time soon for the final fitting. This revived post is a good reminder. I had been procrastinating on the final trip.

I will post pictures once it is finished.

I'd love to get the contact information for the one in Squirrel Hill as I go to CMU. What's pricing like?
