Default Land's End "slim fit" suit for $150. Comments on this blog post & pics?

Are the suit sleeves too short?

$150 - it is going to be fused. Styling is too fashion forward. Not worth it, unless you are looking for a super casual suit that you are not too serious about.

If you are looking at RTW suit options, polo RL has some excellent choices. Obviously, they cost more.

A recent example from Mr. Moo:

Sri, the lapels are real skinny as well. Is this trendy?
If so, that is almost preferred for a "date" suit (vs. a work suit)
Correct?

Not sure what you're getting at. (honestly)
Is "pinched waist" the same as "suppressed waist" ?

The suit Moo is wearing is also fused. The difference is the canvassed lapels which make for an awesome roll. It also has soft shoulders and slim sleeves.

you guys are such a bunch of prissy f*cks.

If you didn't know the label you all would be lavishing praises upon this thing.

The reason why I mentioned that the LE suit was fashion forward is this: they are trying to copy the recent trends in menswear. I am not saying copying is bad - but there is good copying and bad copying. This seems to me like the latter variety, targeting the younger crowd that does looks at suits as a edgy, fashion-forward way to dress than as a classic way to dress. You might think I am reading too much from a couple of pictures, but the overall picture (shorter length, skinny lapel, not-so-well-done slim-cut, pants that don't look fit like dress trousers) tells me a story that I can't fail to read.

That's an even better example if it is fused. That pic shows a good RTW example from RL, much, much better looking than the LE one. You cannot deny that Moo's suit has an excellent cut that presents a different picture about the wearer than the LE one.

To the OP: these are some examples of the cuts you want in a suit from member Parker):

I know some of these are bespoke suits, so not an apples to apples comparison but I hope you get my point about what differentiates a "trendy" suit from a timeless one.

This is simply not true. The LE coat does not even come anywhere close to the RL one. Even without labels, it is not difficult to tell which is the better suit.

Edit: Also, as a general rule if you want to post something like this, I'd do it without mentioning the label. I think many people try to insulate themselves from criticism by noting how cheap something was, but end up inviting criticism from people who assume it can't be good if it's cheap and take it as license to score some i-gent points.

Not saying this is true of any specific posts in this thread - it's hard to tell about the sleeve length and the lapel width is a matter of debate and preference- but I think it would make for more interesting and unbiased critique threads.

I own and wear a quite a few of LE items. Their size small in sports shirts happens to fit me pretty well. I have a few shirts from 3 seasons back and they are great value for what they cost me. I am also a fan of the chambray shirts that I got this fall from the canvas line. They are very good for casual wear. They definitely make some good stuff. This suit is not one of those.

+1

If someone had blacked out the dude's face and posted 'critique my RLBL fit', watch all the posters here fall over themselves to praise it.

God sometimes SF is disappointing.
