That was a very interesting read.

And I must say that I've never been fond of the style input, critiques and advice Jake's owners have given to Chicago fashion magazines and the occasional WWD article over the years.

It sounds like they didn't forsee into the future enough to downsize their stock/labels. I pray to god that South Willard can make it through the recession!

How are our affiliates doing? I remember DresscodesATL went under awhile ago; Sometimes I wonder how they make money with all the crazy discounts being given out.

The tone of the article and quotes from designers make it look like willful deceit. Yes a business, above all, has to stay open but I suppose they should expect a shitstorm when they undercut the designers who trusted them.

Atsui closed down their B&M store here in Seattle and I just noticed they don't have a link at the top of the page anymore.

+1. From walking in, I didn't really get the sense that they'd have lots of exclusive lunches and private fashion shows for their big spenders.

I'm more amazed by $50,000 of sales in one day, in one specialty store. Just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed in retail.

I hope that they can turn it around and eventually repay all of their vendors.
