I have these ones here, not exactly sure if they are dress socks or athletic socks.

Assuming yours is a serious question (no offence), those are obviously and most definitely athletic socks. Dress socks would be longer, made from a thinner and soother material and would definitely not have a logo on the (not to be confused with a pattern, which would be fine).

Why wouldn't dress socks not have a logo?

Same reason you don't typically find a logo on a suit.

Can they pass for dress socks? They are kinda thin, isn't the difference between a dress sock and a sports sock is the thickness?

I don't think whether or not there's a logo would be important. Here however, due to the ribbed upper part of the sock one could identify it as a athletic pair of socks.
Don't use them with a suit. It's makes you look cheap.

They are not dress socks. None of my dress socks have logos anywhere other than on the bottom of the foot.

They'd go perfectly with a pair of kenneth cole shoes. square toes at that.

If you consider these dress socks, and had to inquire about it on the Internet, than they're the least of your worries.
