The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Also from an European perspecitive, official dealers marking prices up is something unfathomable. For Ferrari et al it probably is from your legal issue of manufactures not allowed to own dealerships, so it's wild west and being a car enthusiast I've always just shaken my head at the market...

I stand corrected on the charity details. Then it's a real price, which makes it even more staggering.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I guess the fact that part of the price went to charity, pushed it up even more. At least US guys can deduct part of the price in taxes.

$9-11 million. I mean, someone will want it, whatever it costs and there's usually two of them in the room.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Bullshit. I'd tell the dealer to stick a Bergeon tool up where the sun doesn't shine.

Everything old by Rolex is expensive, so by logical deduction, Tudor (by Rolex) must be at some point. Probably it will be like the 5711 tulip craze at the moment.

Those were s**tty expensive when new, probably are also now.. Actually, my first watch was a Citizen digital, which I got in Christmas 1977. I still have it but obviously haven't even tried to use it (or get a new battery...) in 30 years. I've been thinking of restoring it but I'm assuming the...

Wildcard: Orient does GMT, and as they're owned by Seiko, you wouldn't be too blasphemous, right..?

Noticed the straps, but thought the original watches would cost significantly more. Thanks for the education.

    Poor man's watch thread

Wait.. what? Are those original / original service parts at that price? I've been looking some other brands and all but lost hope on eBay because of the Frankenparts market.
