    The shop of your dream

first thing I thought of listening to this was IKEA for clothing. yeesh. is some assembly required? Okay, maybe this is a bad idea for the people of styleforum, but I was thinking of for my imaginary store that is a crossover point for men who don't know how to shop/have style and don't know...

    The shop of your dream

I had a crazy idea once for a men's shop where all the clothes (or maybe even just jackets and shirts) had the actual measurements on the tag. Then I would go a step further and have someone on staff there to measure people and then fill out a size card the customer can keep and take with them...

NYT: Why Does This Pair of Pants Cost $550?

Interesting article: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/29/fashion/29ROW.html EVEN in a season when designers made no secret about reining in prices to appeal to the newly chastened luxury consumer, it is still possible to walk into a store and wonder what exactly they were thinking when a pair of...

    Indochino suits?

That video with the tailor is pretty funny, and misleading. I like how he is in a pristine white studio, when in reality the tailors work in the exact shop you would expect, as seen in the videos below that I found the other day. Clip 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvgqd...eature=related...

Who makes Saks Fifth Avenue signature label suits?

I actually just picked up an unlined navy blue chalk-stripe SFA suit at Goodwill. I can't tell how old it is, but it is definitely fully-canvassed and has some nice handwork. I think it's made in USA. Don't know much else about it, it's quite nice though.

The official thrift/discount store bragging thread

I just picked up a navy Canali 3B sport coat for $7 in excellent condition, almost looks brand new. I'm a 41L for the most part and the jacket is probably a 40R. It almost fits but I'm afraid it may be a little too small to make work. I may take it to my tailor anyway just to see what he thinks.

    Would you laugh?

Most definitely laugh. Nothing funnier than a man falling down. Maybe a child.

Suits on Conductors (think orchestra, not train)

I saw a conductor dressed as the OP's was just the other day. It looks really lame when the orchestra is in tailcoats and this dude is in a Nehru jacket or whatever, and he wanders off to the side door so that the clapping gets more intense when he comes back in. I'm a pretty decent fan of...

Suits on Conductors (think orchestra, not train)

The last concert I saw of the Philly Orchestra was with their chief conductor, Charles Dutoit, who was wearing an equally "interesting" tux. I want to find a pic of that. Nevermind, it was actually Andrey Boreyko (conducting Stravinsky's Firebird) and he was wearing this:

Suits on Conductors (think orchestra, not train)

His Sibelius and Tchaikovsky concertos are "substantial musical performances" for me. I just saw him conduct Sibelius' 2nd Symphony. It was fantastic. I actually liked his suit; it wasn't necessarily a criticism. The last concert I saw of the Philly Orchestra was with their chief conductor...

Suits on Conductors (think orchestra, not train)

I just came back from the orchestra and saw this guy conducting, wearing this suit: I'm guessing he's just wearing an undershirt underneath. He looked kind of funny waving his arms and seeing nothing but wrist. Contemporary orchestral conductors always seem to wear some interesting jackets and...

How do you sift through the B&S Forum?

It would be real nice if the forum entries can be inserted into some type of database so that items are searchable.

    Driving moccasins vs. boat shoes

I'm in the market for one or the other of these as well. Right now, I'm leaning towards getting one of these, though:

Anyone have any experience with H. Clothier in Philadelphia

I stumbled upon this place at 11th & Pine recently. He apparently makes all types of womenswear, and from the website looks like some menswear, too. I was wondering if anyone knows of this place? If he does tailoring/alterations? http://www.h-clothier.com/index.html

    New Iron

I have a couple of indoor grills by them that have held up very well but their 3D steam irons have received some poor reviews regarding durability. I read some mixed reviews on this one as well, but overall it had the best reviews I could find for a high-end consumer grade steam iron. Hoping it...

    New Iron

Just picked up this bad boy. I can't believe I'm about to say this... but I can't wait to iron some shirts.

    SF Driving Up Prices?

Daffy's side note (and maybe should get it's own topic, but): I saw a bunch of Paolo Verri shirts on the new arrivals rack that looked pretty nice. Some good colors and stripes. I've never heard of the brand before. Anyone know anything about them?

    SF Driving Up Prices?

This thread inspired me to walk the four blocks to Daffy's this morning. I picked up three pairs of decent Mabitex cotton pants that all fit great. Funny, when I got to the counter the women checking me out offered up, "These Mabitex's are flying out the door."

What Do You Look for In An Undershirt? What makes the perficect undershirt?

I just did the undershirt purge; I got rid of all the shirts that I should have awhile ago. Mainly because they got too short, stained or stretched out. I have so much trouble finding a good fitting V-neck. My favorite V-neck undershirt of all time was from a pack 2xist that I actually picked...
