    The Despos Thread

Just contact Chris directly and he can give you prices. Prices reflect his quality. Definitely best in Midwest and most would agree he stands at the top with only a small hand full of others in the US as the very best. I've found his work to be better then what I've gotten from Savile Row...

"Huntsman - Savile Row", latest designer label.

Thank you Svenn. I wouldn't say I feel it is too striking, though I wouldn't wear it if I just wanted to blend into a meeting or something. It's a power suit but because it is still fundamentally natural and well proportioned it works very well without seeming costume like. I'm not sure...

"Huntsman - Savile Row", latest designer label.

This is what I would say about Huntsman based on my experience. . . Quality and construction is first rate. Excellent sewing, finishing and trim. There are a few notable characteristics to my huntsman suit and experience. First, my suit contains a heavier canvas, so even though I chose an 11...

    Lets talk about COFFEE

Thanks, I'll try Ritual. There is a great little cofffee shop on ritchie street in SOMA named Cento that serves Blue Bottle. I use to like Peets but find it too burnt now and believe the company has gotten too big at the expense of quality.

    Custom shirt - chest fit

If it feels too tight in the chest then that speaks for itself. They can adjust the measurements to get it all right for the next one. In general, you should have them make the first shirt before moving on to the rest for this very reason.

    Lets talk about COFFEE

Any thoughts on who makes the best cup of coffee in San Francisco? Four barrel is good but I find it too light..

    New Suite Review

You're better off with an OTR then that one sad to say. I agree, the shoulders and upper back are way too big. Hopefully you didn't pay too much and I would look at as as an educational experience.

So, You Have Just Won a Suit Sweepstakes!!!

NYC is right up the street, and I hear Christian Garcia in FL is the real deal.

    The most comfortable suit

My most comfortable suit is definitely my Despos. Within OTR though, I would say I have found the neapolitan brands like Isia or Kiton to be the most comfortable. Very light with great range of movement in the arm and shoulder. I don't buy them because at their price I mine as well go...

"Huntsman - Savile Row", latest designer label.

I've been working with Dario and Johnny. Nice guys and very professional in person. Just been a painful long distance process. They're about to ship my suit again in the next week so we'll see if it arrives right this time. who did you work with?

    MTM Suit Fit Critique

I think a reasonable question to ask is whether one is better off buying an off the peg suit from an established designer (and all the work they put into it) and then having it altered or going to an unestablished made to measure service who promises the perfect fit but has little of the...

    MTM Suit Fit Critique

Well, as you are finding out, commissioning m2m and custom clothing is a learning experience. From my untrained eye, I would agree with Jimmy's comments. There is much to improve in your first suit from that company. You should post it in the tailor's thread and get a professional critique.

    What causes shoulder dimples?

Thank you. These are incredibly clear and succinct answers. Heck, I even understood them, I think; One question I still have is how do you make sure the shoulder line lays clean throughout standing and sitting given that the shoulders can pitch forward so much when seated? It seems like...

    What causes shoulder dimples?

Don't really know but a couple of members had a few theories in this thread below. Over at the LL Despos, Shattuck and Logsdail all weighed in with a good analysis of why dimples occurred on one of my suits but unfortunately the LL seems to have deleted that discussion. It was very technical...

Mad men vs. the trendy modern suit

Don draper has better taste then Jon Hamm that is for sure. Hamm's suits look terrible and what's with the box of cigarettes in the front pocket? I assume that is what it is.

How does this fit look to more experienced eyes

    looks good. nice buy.

    My visit to Huntsman

My experience with Huntsman is they emphasize a natural shoulder line but do use some padding. I'm not sure they are dogmatic about it though or that they have a universal approach. Throughout my fittings, I noticed the tailor has decided to change the shoulder a bit. Initially it had quite a...

Guys, how many of you can honestly tell if somebody is wearing a quality suit?

I'm inclined to agree that fit is the most important element followed by the cloth, as I usually notice fit first and cloth second. Maybe it is in my imagination but I tend to notice the fit of the shoulders on a suit and it seems most cheap suits have bad shoulders, like too much padding...
