Crombie Airman's coat
The **** in the left side seam was to allow the hilt of the officers sword to be worn outside the coat, while the scabbard remained inside. Since the sword belt and slings are traditionally worn over the tunic but not over the great coat. I think this is the case for all branches of the services.- drax

Do others really notice "fit"
To me fit is the indefinable other dimension of dress. Fit is more important than style or pattern or even cloth. how to barbour jackets fit?
I love my Barbour. I have a vintage Bedale off ebay complete with what appears to be dried up grouse blood. THe fit on the sleeves of the 42R is good for me but like an above poster, the jacket shape always bells out somewhat at the waist. The coat is not long enought to wear a jacket underneath...- drax

How do you all feel about this blazer?
It looks old - the cuts all a bit strange and baggy. Im not convinced its 100%. Unless its a made under licence piece. Just doesnt look very italian to me. But then a lot has to do with how well a suit is put on a bust form - which should tell you something in itself.- drax
