    Crombie Airman's coat

The **** in the left side seam was to allow the hilt of the officers sword to be worn outside the coat, while the scabbard remained inside. Since the sword belt and slings are traditionally worn over the tunic but not over the great coat. I think this is the case for all branches of the services.

Trepanier wins Esquire's Best Dressed Real Man contest

But not on AAAC. I didn't know Nick spent time here--maybe I should have guessed. Anyway, a fun tidbit: as we were all leaving the studio, I overheard Nick say to Kevin (the young finalist from Iowa): "I can't wait to see the fall-out on Ask Andy." I meant SF too naturally......

    Bleu De Travail

Trying to find an existing French or possibly Japanese fashion company that is all about French style workwear. Do others really notice "fit"

To me fit is the indefinable other dimension of dress. Fit is more important than style or pattern or even cloth. Fit is usually what makes you notice a very very well dressed man in a suit even if you dont quite know why. But i would hazard that there are two kinds of fit. Theres the fit that...

    how to barbour jackets fit?

I love my Barbour. I have a vintage Bedale off ebay complete with what appears to be dried up grouse blood. THe fit on the sleeves of the 42R is good for me but like an above poster, the jacket shape always bells out somewhat at the waist. The coat is not long enought to wear a jacket underneath...

Esquire's Big Black Book for 2008

Hi Bleachboy I know Canali does a great one for both fall and spring (every season) called the Kei jacket in twenty or thirty cloths and colorways. Zegna usually has something like it. All the Neapolitans pride themselves on it with Borrelli and Isaia amongst the best. Right now the best for...

Know someone these Jeans Brand ?

Agree this is some weird spam, otherwise how come the poster has a shot of the feller in jeans and a details shot from nowhere in that shot that i can see...? If he has two separate shots, and is presumably able to sneak up behind people and take pictures of their rear ends, presumably he has...

How do you all feel about this blazer?

It looks old - the cuts all a bit strange and baggy. Im not convinced its 100%. Unless its a made under licence piece. Just doesnt look very italian to me. But then a lot has to do with how well a suit is put on a bust form - which should tell you something in itself.

    Financial Times Article

Mmm hard to tell whether in fact men are dressing more conservatively because of the recent downturn or whether they were dressing up anyway and the downturn is a convenient journalist-friendly peg to hang it all on - its a standard about-face of reality (or at least timing) to make a story seem...
