Forget the cap...just don't exclude people from contributing to a Roth once your AGI gets respectable. I think it's about 175k for married couples this year and you cannot make a Roth contribution and your IRA contributions are post tax yet you have to pay tax on any earnings. WTF? Google for...- gene

Fitting a 15" Macbook into Filson Medium Field Bag?
A 13" MacBook barely fits in mine (without sleeve), so a 15" would have no hope. I've had the same thought though: I'll probably upgrade to a 15" soon and I'd like to avoid ugly laptop bags...- gene

Hmm, wouldn't you fall with Purcells?
I think JPs are a shoe you should try on or be able to exchange sizes easily... there seems to be no consensus on fit. I wear a size LARGER in JPs than I do in anything else. And as far as JPs on ice... try to move like you're skating rather than walking. It works better- gene

Clarks Desert Boots
I got mine a week ago at the Clark's store in Bellevue, WA. The Martin+Osa store there also had them. No idea why the Clark's US site (which is really Zappos) doesn't have them yet.- gene

Guinness...now what?
SS makes a pretty good oatmeal stout, too. Young's (London) also makes a good one that's widely available. I'd also recommend (like a previous poster) Rogue Shakespeare Stout, which has some oatmeal in it (though not as much) and is also an excellent stout.- gene

Got a Seiko - it's "ok"
Seiko 5s and some of the other Southeast Asia market automatics seem good cheap-as-dirt watches. I have a "military-style" automatic that I had to order from malaysia for all of $90, and I'm quite happy with it for the price. Much nicer to me than the Fossils and Skagens you can get...- gene
