Champagne as a wedding gift - suggestions?

@psg Maybe I am over-thinking the 1985. Good to know its an appreciated gift. I actually had not considered the presentation piece at all. If I did not get a presentation box, how does one gift champagne? Wrapping paper seems a bit silly. @piobaire I actually thought about that as well. The...

Champagne as a wedding gift - suggestions?

Point taken. I am still tempted by the 1985 though I realize it may not be the best rationale for purchase. Also intrigued by the following two: Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 1998 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millenaires Brut 1995

Champagne as a wedding gift - suggestions?

@skinny - fair point, I should explain. We met up this past weekend for the bachelor party and he didn't seem too excited about it. Mentioned she did most of the planning. @gome - Something like this? My concern was exactly that - are most '85s past their prime? Any specific suggestion for a...

Champagne as a wedding gift - suggestions?

I have the wedding of one of my good friends in a few weeks. He is the first one of my close friends getting married so this is a bit of a first. He is pretty well off and doesn't 'need' anything. I don't want to pick off an item from the gift registry since I know he didn't play a major role in...

Please recommend a used car, $13-15k

Salvage title is a bit iffy. A quick eBay search showed the GTIs closer to 18-20k. Great. I am in somewhat similar shoes as the OP except I won't be getting anything for another six months. And I am in CA so don't need AWD. Looking for something more fun than a Civic, which is the...

    Know anything about this watch?

Post on the Timezone forum, under the JLC section. Some of those dudes have an incredible amount of knowledge and will be far more likely to ID it. Where did you get it from btw?

Recent College Graduate having a huge Dilemma

The first year and a half was exciting. The second year and a half sucked. However, I can't really hate the whole experience, it allowed me to take a year long vacation at 25. That year justified the three years of working. I also don't think 'throwing away your life' is fair. While I had...

Recent College Graduate having a huge Dilemma

Out of college, I worked for 80-100 hrs/week, 7 days a week, including holidays (4th of July, Thanksgiving, etc). Got to take one week off each summer. Did it for three years, quit my job and spent a full year traveling. Admittedly, being a ***** in some industries is more lucrative than others...

    Iranian tourist visa

So, we met this guy from Paris who worked at a telecom company and was stationed in Tehran for six months. Some JV between the French and Chinese. Regardless, since Iran is a dry country, he said the house party scene in Tehran makes Paris seem tame by comparison. Unfortunately, we didn't...

    Iranian tourist visa

I'll offer an alternate view. I made a 10 day stop in Iran (in February). I am also an American citizen. I went with two fellow Americans. We worked with a travel agency in Tehran, the visa took less than a month and the trip was generally flawless. We happened to be in the region and figured...

White buttons on navy coat - white or navy thread?

Im wearing my navy sportcoat with white MOP buttons today as a matter of fact. Mine all have white stitching except the bottom sleeve button on both sleeves...I had that done in navy. Im on the fence on that choice...sometimes I think its a nice subtle touch, sometimes I have it. Interesting...

    Tuxedo Fabric Option

@fashion_newbie I always wear the vest. My dinner suit is single-breasted, and hence requires some sort of waist covering. Few things are as off-putting in evening dress as displaying the unfinished bottom of the shirt. It just looks sloppy. Thanks for the input. Also going to go with SB...

    Tuxedo Fabric Option

I used 4m for the three-piece, but the vest is backless. I'm 6"3 by the way. Do you usually wear the vest? I feel like a vest is very classic but maybe not worn as often. Meaning, if I am not in the wedding party, it isn't necessary. Furthermore, I like the look without the vest.

Thanks Manton. I'm 5'8 so far from Andre. Will go with 4m.

    Tuxedo Fabric Option

Thanks for the input. How much fabric did you need for your tux w/vest?

    Tuxedo Fabric Option

Interesting. I was thinking this might be too light. I am from Chicago but the weddings will be all over. I think I'll try to do between 10-12 oz. I am also assuming 4.0m is enough for a tux?

    Tuxedo Fabric Option

I am nearing the age where my friends are slowly getting engaged and will likely be going to many weddings in the coming years. Therefore, at my next stop in HK in a couple of months, I have decided to use a SF-approved tailor and get a tuxedo made. Since he is willing to do CMT, I was looking...
