McGregor's on clearance? Are we expecting McGregor 2.0 or are they moving away from the style entirely. I've always felt AE was trying to make this one of their core style offerings but always preferred a proper "gun boat" to the sleeker silhouette of the McGregor.

Quote: Yes any of the color options recommended would be a perfect with those pants. There isn't a lot of variance in formality either, we're talking about as versatile as you can get (suits to jeans). The thing that will most set the tone will be the style of shoe. Of the examples listed, I...

I have several great pairs of shoes from the shoebank but have had to return a few pairs in the past. You're always going to have a greater risk on wingtips as well as burnished type finishes based on my experience.

They're both nice additions, although I'm underwhelmed by these shoes in black(although it seems they will come in walnut as well). The Thomastown is particularly great as AE has been missing a sleek derby since they discontinued the kenilworth.

I think walnut wingtips are a great addition to your collection however you are better served with a blucher than an oxford due to their more casual nature. You have a great collection of formal suit shoes. I'd personally grab a pair of Daltons or longwing bluchers over blue suede loafers...

That's exactly how I feel about the Lexington. They're so inexpensive but I can't imagine how to make it work. I think walnut Strand and McCallister look perfectly fine with dark slim fit denim; I agree that a Macneil or even the McGregor work better though. Unless you are wearing a pair of...

Living in NYC I am spoiled with 4 flagship stores within 5 mins of each other. Being the AE shoe addict that I am, I know all the styles on the website plus visit all four stores regularly. It's quite obvious which styles are missing. In this case, I asked specifically about the Franciscan since...

Good to know that the Cornwallis is coming next year in burgundy shell, that's precisely what I'm trying to avoid. I'm still favoring the franciscan but the fifth ave is growing on me more and more. Revised, in order: Franciscan Fifth Ave Fifth St Mora I have a weird love/hate thing with the...

First a little bragging... Daltons finally came in from RDA sale! Oxblood with Dainite sole. Okay now for the real bragging. I was browsing the rack today and found a manistee belt in my size with no tag. It was perfect condition except for very heavy burnished on the tip of the belt. I...

Send those back for sure. I have to be honest, those are a really ugly shoe.

Changed the leather from Chromexcel to Burnished Nubuck. I think I prefer the Rush Street but I'm glad that these color options are back. It does seem like an odd time to launch these as I associate them with Spring/Summer wear rather than Fall/Winter.

If it's a gift, I'd try to figure out which is their most worn shoe and just get the equivalent. I would really like a pair of Bourbon Strands however they would be a terrible gift for my father. He only wears black dress shoes and hates any brogueing. Given that I would probably get him a...

Shoes for Black Tie Wedding: AE Leeds or Kenilworth?

The kenilworth is as appropriate as you can get with an non-balmoral AE shoe. Pretty must the sleekist most formal derby they offer, I frequently wear with a suit. The leeds is way too clunky/casual for black tie imho.

More versatile: McGregor More versatile with khakis, wool trousers, cords, nice dark denim: Tie I personally prefer the McNeil (especially in brown grain) over the McGregor in general. The McGregor does work better with a suit as it is sleeker although it technically breaks some rules (blucher...

It's not a true MTO just a custom sole (I think I paid $50 extra). I basically did the same thing just in Oxblood. I'll check my receipt when I get home.

Do Strands look bad in any color? Never seen a well kept pair that I didn't like.
