This new season isn't exactly to my taste either. The price increases are also very unwelcome, and are all the more questionable considering how much stronger the dollar has gotten vs. the euro in the last 6-8 months. Seems like the accountants and MBAs are now running the brand, not Hedi.- d1234

Photos for the Balmain leather. Some of the stitching mistakes aren't obvious in these photos. Anyway, for USD 5000 (pre-sale at least), every stitch and every piece of leather should be perfect, like SLP or Loewe is. Preparing to return it now. :(- d1234

In terms of volumes, yes, but the margins are much higher in "luxury designer", as the markups in that space generally range from 8X to 12X.- d1234

1st and 2nd one are super cool, IMO, although there appears to be some tapering at the bottom of the 1st one that looks slightly odd, but may just be the photo. The 3rd is not my cup of tea, though more generally I don't always care for the Rick Owens goth-y, vaguely Edward Scissorhands look...- d1234

Thanks v much for the suggestion, but I'm not a huge fan of epaulets. At least for me, I prefer clean, simple, and refined, with subtle details. The fit and finish/fabric should do the talking. :) E.g. if this balenciaga jacket below were in black, it would be absolutely perfect -- super...- d1234

Thanks guys. TOJ is definitely a good recommendation. Nothing else seems to be quite right to me except for some of the Balenciaga jackets from a few years back under the previous designer -- they were simple and clean and the details were usually nice and subtle.
