    Shopping in Denver

I am in Denver for the week. Where can I find clothes, shoes, etc.? Mathieu

    My shoulder and my suit

One of my shoulders is somewhat forward, so that there is a hollow space over my collar bone. The sneaky jacket takes advantage of this: the fabric does not go smoothly from armscye to lapel, it kind of collapses in due to lack of support. Is there a way to fix this (shoulder padding, canvas, etc.)?

    Soft leather, trees and wrinkles

When I remove the shoe trees from my Gravatis the tension on the leather drops and wrinkles tend to appear. Did anybody have a similar problem?

    Geeks anonymous

My name is Mathieu and I am a geek. But I am not the only one here (I have names), we have (married) PhD geeks, spreadsheet geeks, Ernest, etc. So I thought we could share our perversions and see who rules supreme. Until 1 year ago, there were two possible routes between where the bus dropped...

Where are you from as in where were you born, of what country are you a citizen, etc. (not necessarily where you are living right now)?

    Different countries = different rules?

I have seen some rules in the marble of French sites that were different from those in the marble of the style forum. Is this due to idiosyncrasies of the authors of the said sites or are there different rules in different countries? Obviously habits may be different but rules? Can the boldly...

    Cleaning shoes with turpentine

Today I found a bottle of turpentine. The bottle I bought looks like a brown beer bottle... looking closer I saw the name of a brewery embossed at the bottom of the bottle. The label states that the content is flammable and toxic and a third of the label space is dedicated to what to do in case...

    Hanging trousers

What do you use for hanging trousers? Clips are nice but generally come on suit hangers only (fine for suits but not for odd trousers). I always fear that folding trousers on a bar increases the risk of creasing at the fold. Mathieu

    Singapore get together

All members (and others) who are in Singapore are welcome to join us for dinner some time next week. The exact time and venue are to be determined, so you can still weigh in. We are not quite decided yet concerning the dress code (black tie, white tie, pink tie?) Mathieu

Do you believe care instructions on labels?

When labels say that a garment must be handwashed or dry cleaned only -but there does not seem to be a good reason for that- what do you do? I have some linen clothes which "should" be hand washed. Does it just mean that they were not preshrunk and I have to deal with a problem created...

    Color fastness

What kinds of fabric (wool, cotton, linen, silk, polyester, etc.) are naturally more colorfast than others? How do blends behave? Mathieu

    Shirt wardrobe "philosophy"

Do you expect each of your shirts to be suitable to more or less precise clothes in a more or less precise setting? E.g. some shirts in conservative colors/patterns with spread collar and French cuffs for suits, more fashion forward shirts for evening wear, still another kind for sport jackets...

    web site hosting

I can no longer use the server that hosted my web site so far. It's just a personal site so bandwidth needs and amount of money I wish to spend are both limited. Does anybody have any experience? Mathieu

    wear from bag strap?

I carry my laptop bag on the shoulder. I have noticed some wear on some rather new shirts at the shoulder and wondered if it may be due to the strap. Anybody experienced the same problem? Mathieu

Do Glen plaid/prince of Wales come in colors other than grey? I think I've seen some green, but I am not quite sure. Would the name change if it's not grey? Mathieu

    Italian shoe makers

It seems that some Italian brands sell an infinite number of models. When I look at the catalogue or website of British, American or French shoe makers or when I look in brick/mortar or online stores the same models can be found everywhere. But some Italian brands seems to have as many lines of...
