    Suitsupply NYC

I'm relatively "normal" body wise so can happily buy OTR. The thing is your 36S gives you a chest of 40.2 on the GB (UK) site. THAT is "normal" in my mind. http://eu.suitsupply.com/en_GB/jackets/havana-brown-check/C946.html?cgid=Jackets However, if you go to waistcoats, a SIZE 48 gives...

So a 48 is correct? Thank you. I am aware of EURO sizing (I live in Europe, UK). Only, on a UK website I am used to being presented with UK-sizing. This is most unusual in my experience.

    Suitsupply NYC

Could some kind chap give me some sizing advice? I have asked SS, but I'm still not sure. This is for a waistcoat, so chest size. My chest is 38". So I generally wear a 38R - which isn't 38 inches, but designed for someone with a 38" chest, so it'll have some room in there, no painted on...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

I wish I had realised the used market for vintage tweed from the start. There is some amazing stuff out there! All of my favourite tweeds are vintage in fact... Sometimes things might need relining or minor repairs, but if you seek items you really like and in great condition, you can't really...

    Undershirt UK Recommendation?

These days? What have I missed? Please share. My brief understanding is that these will be more friendly/breathable than plain cottons - this is at least what the reviews seem to suggest. In either case, I've ordered a couple as a tester for a very small fee, so no real risk. I find cotton...

    Undershirt UK Recommendation?

I hadn't head of either of those, thanks so much!

    Undershirt UK Recommendation?

I have always bought relatively inexpensive but white undershirts. The cotton is a nice and soft, and the fit is good, so to me they do their job. However, they always suffer from aluminium build-up after a year or two, which simply can't be removed, and I have to discard them. I have recently...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

Absolutely, wise words from Veremund. A tweed jacket is really a great companion, it can be dressed up and down, and taken almost anywhere, great for travelling with as well (pockets, hard wearing). There is a lot to be said for enjoying it and not overthinking the fit. None of my jackets fit...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

Honestly, don't worry about the length, it looks perfectly good. For the trousers - the easy combination would be something like a lighter grey flannel, pressed. Pretty much any conventional fitting trouser with a tapered leg and a crease is going to look sharper here (and fit with the...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

I have unashamedly purchased this vintage coat as my latest tweed. It's a bit lighterweight/shorter than my trench coat, so will be useful. The only thing I'm going to change are these buttons (well worn), probably a simple dark, round wood button of sorts if I can find something. The rest of it...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

Exactly my thoughts. I would either have some sharper looking trousers or dress the whole thing down more. With the collar, shirt, tie, shoes, I think the trousers need to be a little better. That is the only thing that really seems off to me. Yes it's a touch short but I think it balances...

    The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread

There is an element of beauty to them because of the brogue, the beautiful leather, tweed. For my personal tastes they just don't quite sit with me. They seem like something I've seen beardy Londoners in skinny jeans where with a chunky leather biker jacket. But to each their own.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

That is excellent. I appreciate the extra effort of illustrating this as well. I don't care too much for the fabric but the cut is fantastic, night & day compared to mine. A follow up Q: Do you think the collar (on the jacket) is out of proportion with the lapels on mine? I was discussing it...

    Lapel Roll & Button Point

Yep, agreed. Going to remedy this. It's funny, he made me a jacket last year that is very similar (different cloth, few details different) and but it doesn't cut in as much as this... little inconsistent.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Aren't they mostly personal/style choices? Unless I guess, as Despos describes above, there is a reason to use one over the other for better tailoring. I personally choose twin vents as any OTR single vents have never 'sat well' with me.

Oh okay, my mistake! I wrongly assumed it would be less distracting. I'll keep to twin vents and pass on your previous tips.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Well thank you for the insight. I will note this and keep it handy for when I have something made in the future (I do have my eye on another Molloy & Sons fabric, which I think are quite special). I am tempted to go with a single vent next time too, might help a touch. Thanks again :)

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

I think I understand what you describe (in terms of where/why to let this area out). I assume you are speaking hypothetically as to any future creation (to help with general shape) rather than anything that could be done to this jacket? I've tried to inspect and it seems there is a...

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Thank you for lending your excellent eye Despos! There is easily enough to add 1 1/2" on each side of the back panel to wrap around the seat more. Only this would obviously also involve relining the whole of the inside back panels, which although isn't difficult does add to the work... Do...

    Lapel Roll & Button Point

Thanks for your thoughts on the button point/lapel roll. After looking at the images (rather than just wearing it) I also had the same feelings. I'm okay with it. And it does feel comfortable. But I think they have taken the waist in a touch too much. Easy to let out say an inch though and...
