*** Visvim thread: Dissertation on a Japanese Holy Spirit ***

Nakameguro store? That felt like it had slightly less stuff compared to the 2 stores in Gyre pre-Covid. It certainly didn’t feel as spacious due to the layout.

UK no longer do tax free after Brexit? I remember there was news about implementing it again but that went nowhere.

Show us how you roll in Engineered Garments

That’s BS for sure. I was able to send something via Japan Post EMS to NYC last month. Had to fill up all the forms electronically and get it printed at the post office though.

Pre-Covid, Nepenthes Tokyo does not carry EG. It’s a tiny store compared to Nepenthes NY. The standalone Engineered Garments store is where you should go.

Discussions about the fashion industry thread

The Gap collab showed that he wasn’t capable of even hiring the right people to translate his ideas to reality. There were only 2 products till Balenciaga got involved to do the grunt work. That whole debacle suggested that Adidas was doing the heavy lifting for the various Yeezy seasons...

@xeoniq Dude, are you talking about these logo t-shirts, which are probably their best sellers? If you can’t smell the aughts aesthetic on those, you really should spend more time on the forum!

Patagonia is by far one of the more stodgy outdoor brands. I have no idea why you think their design is trendy. The trucker hat is still one of their core products for crying out loud 😂

Pretty much the same is happening on my neglected 7-hole. Has anyone removed it or gotten it replaced?

Kapital - hippies, Japanese farmers and post-apocalypse survivors

Given that the pandemic didn’t force a change in the webstore shipping policy, I really doubt that they ever will. Even if it does, it’s likely to be at a higher MSRP ala Visvim or Cottle. Japanese brands love to do this dual pricing thing for some odd reason.

They have a fancy way of counting out your cash change as well. I’ve tried to give up my seat on one occasion to an elderly, only to get a weirded out look in return. They do have different social norms.

Used to be available only in-store. Have seen them all year round at the Ebisu store. If I’m not wrong, there are two versions; with blanket lining and without.

    Cottle

Oh, there was a US web store at least a year ago? I must have been looking at the JP web store all this time and not noticed the price difference. Only realised it when I was ready to put in an order.
