    The Hong Kong Tailors Thread

Does anyone here have experience with getting shirts made by them in general, and OCBDs in particular? Most importantly, how is the collar roll? I (obviously) can't answer the question about their house fabric, but I like Thomas Mason Silverline oxfords. They are more on the slightly dressy...

Thank you for letting me know. I am very sad to hear that. I liked him very much. Even if someone has taken over that won't be the same.

Does anyone know if Peter Lee (Lee Baron) is still operational? I haven't been in contact with them since before the pandemic. Not getting replies to e-mails now.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I have a (first) fitting for a pair in Three Kings Tricotine on Friday! Remind me to report back if I forget. I have a pair in from the Dakota bunch that someone else mentioned, reference 953406. It is nice, but a little too slick/"wet" for my taste maybe, I prefer something drier. From the...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

The answer to your question is (obviously) mink, as it goes with a wider range of trousers. It goes with dark trousers, and while not ideal also with lighter colours. However, you should ask yourself in which circumstances you will actually use them. For me loafers are summer shoes, and in...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

What kind of shoe care products do people here use on utah leather? I see that EG recommend creams rather than waxes. I am curious what people's experience is with different types of products including concrete brands. Anyone used Saphir Renovateur for example?

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Like I said, Tyrone is 275 grams per square meter. The width is 137 cm. Thus, 377 grams per running meter, which is approximately the same as W. Bill (380 grams per running meter, width might be slightly different). But I already said this, and you responded that you thought it was wrong. I...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Surely the weight on the label in your picture (380 grams) is per running meter, not per square meter.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Thanks to everyone who mentioned Tropical, that wasn't on my radar. I have the Spence Bryson books. Tyrone is actually 275 grams per meter squared, which is almost exactly the same as W Bill per (380 grams per running meter, width is 137cm). But I prefer heavier too, so Tropical sounds...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

All relative, agreed. In my mind linen is an alternative to cotton, not to high-twist wool. I wonder how heavy you could go with linen trousers. Ulster Weavers have a book of heavier linens that look nice (Tyrone), but they are sold as furnishings..
