The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

**As he caught up on TWAT for the day while neglecting work, he leaned back in his office chair and felt an overwhelming sense of relief that he had deleted that TWAT post all those years ago when his first daughter was born while he was wearing a 44mm Seiko. "What would have brought the most...

    Poor man's watch thread

I have the one on the left. It is the perfect size for a toolish dive watch, has some of the Marine Master design elements and is a great watch. My only complaint is the Seiko bracelet and the fact that Uncle Seiko does not make an aftermarket bracelet for this one. Otherwise, it's one of my...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Ever since you posted that picture of the Grand Seiko, it's crept onto my radar along with the GMT high beat models. They look great in pictures, but need to try them on. Otherwise, the Tank Louis and the Lange 1 stand out on your list as different from what you already have and a nice...

For some reason, Tudor designed the case on these so that the case side is just a tall slab of steel with no contours or anything else to distract from how thick the watch is. I tried one on and it was an immediate no for me. If you like the vibe, the old ETA version is much better executed...

That sucks. Let us know how Nomos takes care of this and how long it takes to get your watch back. For what it's worth, I've had an Orion for 8 years and a Club automat for 7 years without issue. I'll probably have to send one or both off for service in the next year or two and am 90% sure...

The real test is when you put it in a homeless person's tip cup and see whether they hand it back to you and say, "no thanks, I'm on the list for a no date sub."

The SARB series has been a watch forum darling for a long time. So long that I'm not sure whether they even make the series anymore. Regardless, if you like it, there are very nice aftermarket bracelet options available.

    Poor man's watch thread

How about if we just say, "90% of men think this 34mm watch is way too small and would not wear it; I'm in that 90%." Would that avoid a rebuke from you? And, to be clear, we are talking about 34mm round dial watches. A tank and other rectangular watches wear much bigger than their dimensions...

    Poor man's watch thread

It's not the 1940's last time I checked and 34 mm for a man's dress watch is far outside current norms and tastes. I don't think it's hyperbole for people to think that it's too small for their personal tastes. I also think you're confusing this thread with the other one, which recently had...

Same here. I have both the green dial and grey dial version. They've got a nice dressy/sporty vibe when you throw them on a gator strap.

Which brings me to the lug width. 20 mm lug width for a 36 mm case. I have a different Baltic watch with the same case and having a 20 mm strap on a 36 mm case is definitely one of my complaints about it.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I get the intent, but the execution . . . One of their challenges is that they are trying to branch out and make new watches like this but they only have a few (one?) cases they use for all of these watches. I understand the reason why they are constrained in this manner, but this looks like...
