Allen Edmonds Men's Park Avenue Lace-Up Reviews
Cons: Conservative, boring
I bought a pair of these shoes on sale for my 10 year old boy's first really big piano concert.
The only color they had in store was a shiny merlot/burgundy/cordovan color which I did not like at first but now that the kid has worn them so much I am actively trying to find a new pair to fit his growing feet.
The shoes look much better quality than they are, and they maintain their quality look despite very hard use and wear.
The shoes are really comfortable and the kid is really tough on them. He actually says the shoes are more comfortable than his sneakers!
After 9 months of devastating wear they can still be polished and returned to the kid's feet looking just like new, complete with the full shine and scuff marks polished away with Saphir products..
I don't own a pair myself, but I would not reject the idea out of hand
Pros:
Staple item that can be had for less $250.
When needed it can be recrafted by Allen Edmonds for $100.
Comes in all the classic colors. I suggest the black calf for the Park Avenue.
Allen Edmonds makes the polish, lotion,... that are made for this model.
Comes in all widths. AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, EE, EEE
Cons:
Leather quality is good, but not great.
Tips: AEs can almost always be brought on sale. Check Shoebuy, the B&S board, Ebay,...
These run a little narrow. Some of the colors and leathers offered don't go well with the PA.
