Pros: They are a great quality boot at a great price
Cons: Blobby looking in small sizes
I got these during a seconds sale for a great price, but found that the 8D looked very blobby - the cap toe portion was very large, leading to a shape that was not very flattering.

Ended up returning them.

Would advice that you see them in person, in the size that you would wear them, before ordering online!

Pros: Great value when found on sale
I wore this boot for the first time on a two-week trip through central Europe recently. The weather was near freezing and not much rain/snow. These boots held up wonderfully and age well with wear. The mini-lug sole kept great traction in the rain (less so in the snow), and water did not penetrate once into the inside throughout my trip (though I did not wander into any severe weather).

Sizing is slightly narrow but the shoe breaks in quickly, probably due to the Chromoexcel leather. Easy to put on with the speed hooks but just be careful when taking off the boots as the speed hooks can get caught on the inside of your pant hem. That's more a function of my inexperience with speed hooks than any actual problem with the hooks.

I have not had a problem with the grommets so far as mentioned in the other review. Fingers crossed.

I am overall very happy with the boot especially since I got them from the Amazon sale for $168 shipped. At full price these would not be so great.

These are really nice looking shoes. They were my best purchase for the first 5 wears. However, the grommets starting coming loose around wear 10. They eventually started falling out of place. :(
Allen Edmonds replaced them with a new pairs of Malverns. If I hear the grommet issue has been fixed I would pick them up in a second.

I'll co-sign on the three-star rating. They look ok for what they are - a cap-toe lace-up brogue boot with a low-profile commando sole - but they seem to fall somewhere in the "dressed-up workwear" to "rugged biz-casual" range and not really fit in anywhere else. I was also surprisingly underwhelmed with the leather when I handled them.

On the plus side, they can be found on sale.
