    Shipton UK shoes & boots

Shipton has a USA site for shoes and boots that sell for less than $270, plus $20 flat shipping from the UK. This seems like a great deal. Several of the boots look really good. What's the quality like for these shoes? How do they compare to C&J, AS, "Peal" (Brooks Bros), and other good English...

    Trying tequilas

Prior to a trip to Mexico  I was reading about tequilas. Was suprised to see the recommended ones costing $30 and up. I don't mean to dismiss tequila lovers, but that's getting up to the price of single malts or VSOP cognacs. I'm not sure I'm going to get a comparable enjoyment for the dollar...

    Resoling E. Green shoes

I have a pair of beautifully brogued, dark brown E. Green shoes. They will soon need new soles. I know all the local shoe repair stores and they're not up to the job. They're RTW, bought at Neiman-Marcus on sale a few years ago. No idea what I paid but I am sure they were really inexpensive for...

Best tequilas to buy in Mexican resorts

Going to Mexico, may want to bring back tequila. Scotch is my drink but I'd like to take home a bottle of good sipping tequila. Suggestions?

    Best value button-down oxford shirt?

What do people find is the best shirt for the money in a button-down, oxford or pinpoint cloth? Brooks Bros, of course, has the history and the "legendary" status, and there are nice anecdotes about rich Italian businessmen who love their shirts. Brooks has a Supima, which I think is...

    Hairbrushes

Need a new hairbrush. Had a Mason Pearson for years and it was great. Kent brushes seem to be a little cheaper. What's interesting is that MP uses a plastic, wood simulated base, while Kent's is wood. Any thoughts on these? Any others in a quality bristle that are very good?

To Boot New York Adam Derrick

Would appreciate opinions on this shoe in terms of quality. It seems they have different lines, what are the differences. I see them in good company (Bergdorf's and Neiman's) but am not familiar with them.

Where find quality shoe brush (US)

Where should I search for a good quality, horsehair shoe brush. Internet and NYC suggestions, please. Every store seems to carry the same mediocre quality models.

    Suede in the rain

This is probably a no brainer but if there's any chance of rain I avoid wearing suede shoes. Am I being too cautious? Is suede just as resistant to rainwater as regular leather?

Who sells Brigg umbrellas in Manhattan

Would like to see the Brigg travel umbrella. Anyone know which stores in Manhattan carry that one or at least other Briggs?

Need to find Manhattan store that blocks hats

I need a hat freshened up, pressed or blocked. The kind of thing that Worth & Worth used to do while you waited. Where can I get this done (while I wait) in NY? Thanks

Opinions on Jay Kos in NY, please

A recent posting on recommendations for a shopping trip to NY didn't appear to mention Jay Kos. I found the east side store very unique (although as a sale shopper I couldn't afford anything more than a tube of A. Harris almond shave cream), and walked by the midtown store that certainly looked...

    Vibram, dainite, veldtschoen. rubber

What are the pro's and con's of these soles? For a long time I've been familiar with Vibram soles. Learning about high end English shoes, I see names like Dainite and Vendtschoen. Has Vibram surpassed these in terms of durability and comfort? Why are the good British shoemakers still using...

    Double-sole shoes and comfort

I've been considering some shoes (like C&J) that use a double sole. How do you think they compare in comfort to thinner leather soles? How about to veldtschoen soles? Would the doublle soled shoes make good travel shoes, for walking all day in a city like NY?
