The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Happy with this for personal - Chrysalis make solid field coats, but even better when making them out of cashmere for Ed Meier…

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

I enjoy browsing, mostly because I love clothes and thrifts / charity shops mean you never know what you’ll find. But honestly at this point, I’m finding better deals via ethrifting than via bricks and mortar.

    Cashmere Sweater Hierarchy

I have never seen a ‘vintage’ Ballantyne with that label - 90s was the more classic blue dragon one at the beginning and then the gold B in a blue square logo. That logo above is a modern one.

٭٭٭ No Man Walks Alone - Official Affiliate Thread ٭٭٭ (a.k.a. I shouldn't have slept on it)

It’s for when you are wearing a belt, the fabric loop goes around the prong of the belt buckle so that the belt stays in the same place whether everything’s fastened up or you’re taking them off.

It’s Tall, and the shirt weave is called a Dobby weave.

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

Great. Regretting, in hindsight, not getting more of the colours you first stocked. Most missed are the greens, but there was also a fantastic ketchup red shade. Looking forward to seeing what’s available this time…

    MC General Chat

It’s just outright bad fit. Fabrics and overall aesthetic is decent, but it’s like we’ve not moved on since 2009…

It lasts full stop. I’ve got two Patagonia fleeces that I thrifted a while back, and when I put one on at the weekend I realised that was 12 and 13 years ago respectively.

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Echoing this. It was covered in yesterday’s FT Fashion Matters newsletter with the line “rumours were abounding about how long Burberry can afford to wait for Lee’s designs to prove a hit” but to me this is where luxury brands need to be heading - moving firmly beyond streetwear and ostentatious...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Amazing stuff, which you already know. I’d suggest two options: 1) Set up a simple Google Sheets with embedded link to a photo of each length of fabric. Put in your price per length / metre (as appropriate) which includes your cost of doing business. 2) Post here and elsewhere your offer for...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

That’s a very wide range of bases. Personally I’d go for Dugdale Town Classics 9436 which is a navy pick and pick. It has a little bit of interest and would be perfect for interviews (assuming you are aiming for a conservative profession), sufficiently respectable for funerals or weddings, and...

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Missed this interesting shirt at Marrkt - brand was said to be Scribbler. Google shows nothing - does the hive mind know anything about the brand?
