RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Those are my Olive kicks. They only look green in the picture. In real life, they look brown, like chocolate bison. I've got the same make up in Chocolate, Cognac, and Olive. I agree with BAK, the peanut color is not that attractive. I'd say the chocolate is the most versatile, believe it or...

I think I might still have one of those... Gosh, it's been so long since I've even held a tie... This story sounds familiar...

If this is directed at me, they are RLH Ranger. All 3 pairs. The stock model is Vibram Christy, but I paid the hefty customization fee.

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Third pair of Bison Clymers (Olive). Sent my first pair (Chocolate) back for their 2nd resole. Also have a pair on cognac. They look more brown in real life. They don't look green at all at this point, but I suspect they will look a little green once they get some wear and the leather dries out...

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

I find that the RLH soles firm up after several months. It's as if they aren't fully cured at first, but I don't know what the explanation is. Just an observation based on my experience.

All of the above mentioned are CXL? My advice pertains to CXL only.

Second the thought of going down .5 but keeping typical width. They will be uncomfortably tight at first, but stretch to fit.

Yeah, they are heavier, but I appreciate the additional cushion that they provide. I think it probably depends on what you're going for in the particular makeup. If you want something lighter and less substantial, go with the camp. If you want something more comfortable at the cost of lightness...

    Agreed. Reminds me of Wallabies.

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Yeah, but I think a distinction is appropriate here, as he is talking about an RLH sole, and yours is vibram christy. I would say that the reltexs don't have shanks, but I shouldn't speak on it since I didn't know any of them had shanks. Camp moc speculation can be very risky, but if you can...

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Yuck! Dirty secrets revealed. Looks like a foil gum wrapper. The shanks I've seen in pictures of half constructed Aldens were much more substantial looking, with a bit of corrugation to them as well. Surprised to see that in there. I had no idea. Thanks for posting.

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

There was a time around 2013 where there was no upcharge for MTOs. Now they usually do, but by how much I've found to be inconsistent, and Scott has mentioned that over time they've changed how much of an upcharge there is. I think he told me about a year ago that +$50 for just a different sole...
