Paper patches were extremely common prior to WWII with many of the smaller unknown brands, it was the big guys (Levi's, Lee, etc..) that started to use paper in the early 50's.
Can we merge these two threads?http://www.styleforum.net/t/270175/stevenson-overall-company-height-of-perfection-from-japanThe reason for the paper patch is because Stevenson jeans are inspired by pre-30's designs, hence the missing chainstitched hem, no bar-tacking, and non machine made belt loops.
That is definitely possible but most stores that use this machine have photographs of their own machine on their site and many times the machine itself is on display at the retail store.
