I have a pair of Alden Cigar Shell Chukka boots that I purchased at the Alden NY store in September for $680. Having worn them less than a dozen times, I've quickly come to realize that they just don't work for me. They're in excellent condition, basically like new, except that I've had plastic taps placed on the toes and heels. Barrie last. I'm offering them for $475, including shoe bags and the original box, shipped via Fedex for delivery prior to Thanksgiving...
The Amex rate worked out better for me, as I intended to purchase personal training sessions from them and the overall cost worked out in my advantage rather than signing up through a professional association that I'm a member of and which offers a discounted rate where you pay up front for one year, paying between $1,300 and $1,900 depending on which club(s) you want access to. I am lazy and won't use the gym if it's not extremely convenient for me. The Equinox...
I've used the perfumed court (google it) multiple times for samples, decants, etc., and always been happy with service and cost.
Amex Platinum rate for one club is $136/month. They give you a few amenities (personal training sessions basically) over and above the standard massage and pilates package everyone gets when joining.
Maui Jim has one of the best lenses on the market. Person is also excellent quality glass. Maui Jim is somewhat more sport fashioned than the classic Persol. Oliver Peoples, while offering nice fashion forward frames, has less than high quality lenses. Basically, if you're going to put prescription lenses in your frames anyway, purchase Oliver Peoples frames. If you're going to wear them with a suit, purchase Persol or Oliver Peoples. If you're going to fish or...
I find the difference in drape between summer weight fabrics and winter weight fabrics is very real and seriously defines fit for me. Factoring in NYC wind during Fall and Winter, I find that lighter weight fabrics aren't a great way to go. I have a couple of 8.5 ounce summer weight suits in lighter colors that work well in July and August. They deal with both the stifling heat of the subways and the discomfort from walking through Union Square in the blazing noon sun...

As an FYI, the NYC store has received a stock order of Alden Cigar Shell Chukka's..
I use Wilfred's for major work as well and have been very happy with them. You need to be explicit with what you want and they'll resolve most issues. I've sent a number of people to them and all have been very happy with the results.
120's or 130's. Zegna doesn't publicly release this information. It is a lightweight 8.5 ounce fabric. I just had a suit made by MyTailor (Hemrajani Brothers) in this fabric, 1/4 lined, and it's comfortable in the current muggy NYC summer weather that we're having.
