The problem is: unless you go every day, you're going to be beaten by the resellers every time. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that I can occasionally pick up something from a reseller cheaper than mail order direct from RL, but at the same time I also miss the fact that I can occasionally find some bargains at outlets. I recently visited three outlets during a vacation to the USA (Orlando & NYC) and found the sales racks had been so picked over that there was nothing...
Uniqlo have about four navy blazers made of different fabric at the moment. My favorite is a very lightweight "dry" poly/cotton blend for $69.90 (also available in a heather grey & a light grey). Also saw a 100% cotton, wool & linen blazers. They are all very slim fit with no/minimal shoulder padding & would go with virtually anything. B.
They look like a slim cut on the Context site, but they may have been sized down dramatically. Any idea what the cut is?B.
Look at the guy's feedback. He's either a genuine collector or a genius who can make perfect one-off copies of RRL, Dry Bones, APC, Alden, Post O'Alls, etc. B.
I wish they would do more of the other colored selvedge jeans they did in 2009 - they did grey, beige, black and a horrible brown/green color (only in the authentic fit). Some new color selvedge would be fantastic. B.
A related blog post showing the almost identical similarity between the RRL campaign and the 1920s police photos: http://mannamaker.com/?p=2140 And the original book of photos: http://shop.hht.net.au/site/Home/Catalogue.aspx?productid=e5ebe56a7a9ed9a6
Double post.
Heads up for those in Sydney: RRL pictures on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald today (largest selling newspaper) in a half-page story on how Ralph Lauren used old Sydney police criminal/gangster photos for inspiration for its latest "heritage label RRL" campaign! Here's the online version: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/fashion/crimes-of-fashion-gangsters-turn-heads-again-20111129-1o57t.html Ironic because RRL is not sold anywhere in Australia. B.
Sorry to do this but I can't be the only one who has to see this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RALPH-LAUREN-PANTS-JEANS-RRL-WESTERN-LEATHER-INDIAN-NAVAJO-LEDERHOSE-48-32-M-/170736504501?pt=US_CSA_MC_Pants&hash=item27c0b04eb5 WTF.
That's a mighty long exclusion list:
