Yup, I like this last a lot and they seem to fit me well. My next C&J purchase will be a pair of the Ardens.

The Filson Oil Finish wax also works well on the bags...I apply it to the areas that get the most beat up (edges and bottom) does a nice job of preventing fraying and general wear...also creates a pretty cool patina.

this is how all the 257's are, there is a mix of both open and closed pockets.i find the open pockets are perfect for my sunglasses fits nicely and doesn't fall out the bottom. i have also used the open pockets to hold a bottle of water, lotion, and a spare laptop long as the item you are holding is long enough it will extend to to the bottom of the bag and not fall out of place.
Ok, just to make sure I understand...are you saying that I should default to buttoning the coat using the normal outward facing button and only use the link closure after a meal or when I want a looser fit? Is it wrong to use the link button all the time?
Thanks for the responses. I guess I am acting a littler paranoid. I'll have my tailor leave the link closure and see how it works out...I can always make the change sometime down the road if it really bugs me.
