This may be early as most of us haven't had these shoes long enough yet to need it...but in the future when they will need to be resoled and maybe even recrafted, does Meermin offer this service themselves? Or were you all just going to a respected cobbler that you may already be frequenting and have them fix it up?   I have the double monks and the original museum calf MTO and would hope that Meermin will do recrafting. I'm a bit weird and don't like losing the original...
Thanks for all the responses, gents. I'm honestly surprised that so many of you have recommended me to keep as I was almost certain this pair was not up to snuff for second standards. I will admit that aside from the dent, I was going to overlook everything. The dent just has me worried because as far as I know, I can't just fix it or patch it up somehow. And I'm worried about rain as well as it getting bigger over time.   I got them for $399 during the sale so it's...
Gents,   I need your opinion on this. I'm pretty sure I already made up my mind but just wanted to see what you all thought.   I snagged a pair of factory second Shell Cordovan Burgundy Dalton's during the tent sale and was super excited. I've been pretty busy at work so I didn't get a chance to really look at the shoes that much yet until today. Unfortunately, I noticed some things that I think are too big a deal to not return/exchange but I'm curious if you guys...
Thank you chogall & benhour!   Makes me feel at ease knowing that the damage shouldn't be too hard to cover. Will definitely work this this weekend.
Morning gents,   Have a quick question...    Was in a rush this morning and ended up scuffing my shoes on the concrete step in the garage. My foot was parallel to the step and it got scratched up as I was reaching for the light. I attached some pictures of the damage...hoping that it's not a big deal and can be easily fixed via normal polishing.   What do you guys think? Is this just a normal job to clean & polish or will it require some more? Also, what am I to do...
This may be nitpicky, but how come Meermin doesn't move the imprint on the bottom of the sole? After a few wears, all of that gets scratched off and disappears. Or do you all wear shoe taps to prevent this from happening? I'm kind of sad that there is no more imprint on my double monks anymore.   Was hoping that the Museum MTO would be different since it's a LM shoe and maybe they would've imprinted it somewhere else like other shoemakers do so it won't disappear...
Gents,   Thank you for the replies. That makes me feel much more at ease! I took roundabout ways to walk when I went out to lunch today, afraid to make it worse so I'm happy to know that I won't have to do that anymore.
Gents,   Am I just being paranoid or is this normal for wear on the soles? I'm out here in Boston on a business trip and the floor was somewhat wet with gravel that was unavoidable. As I was relaxing in my chair, I noticed how my soles now looked and am concerned with the deep dents due to the pebbles and the water/fluid outline.     Thanks!
Is it because you got shoe taps? My 277 was for shoes and shipping only, no shoe taps or any other bells & whistles.
I'm glad you like them! I'm still waiting for mine to be shipped. Got them in brown calf. The one shoe bag is hilarious....I'll have to buy another one or just use some other shoe bags in that case because I do actually bag them after use.
