As we age we slowly lose the ability for thermal regulation. I don't know how old you are but it's start becoming really noticeable in the 5th and 6th decade up.

I don't know your age, but if I were to guess you're probably college aged. Most people on this site will wear their shirts tucked even with jeans. Polos can be worn untucked. There are some military type shirts (long or short sleeve) that look decent untucked. For the other shirts that you have, you could always take it to a tailor or alterationist to get it shortened. I love these duck boots by jcrew:
Chanel d'homme (sport) is pretty good one for neophytes.
Yeah I'm 5'9'' about 145-150lb, thin build. When I shop now, I get smalls (shirts/sweaters), 38s (jackets/blazers), & 31x32 (pants). I think part of the problem, is that A. Americans are generally bigger than Europeans and B. Americans tend to like looser fitting clothes.
The sleeves are too long. The width is decent. The length is okay, however, if I were you I'd go for S as opposed to R. I'm 69inch and I usually go for S for a much crisper fit.
I wear a v-neck undershirt always unless of course I'm wearing a T-shirt or polo shirt. I sweat (not more than usual) and wouldn't want my deodarant to wear off on my button up shirts.
